Awesome bass player and songwriter. I just hope I don't ever have to mime his name in a game of blues charades.

I have a Warren Ellis Tenor tuned as a (low G) tenor ukulele - all unwound strings. Its great for recording guitar parts as I sound a lot better on uke than guitar. If I didn't have the Eastwood I'd be all over this tele.

A tip: If you ever need to remove sticker residue, I've found that the best thing to use is lighter fluid. The stuff from poundland for a quid works just as well as a much more expensive product I used to use called 'sticky stuff remover' which I now suspect was the same thing but with an added orange fragrance.

The replacement tuners have been fitted at a bit of a jaunty angle - who do we know that would do such a thing?

This is about 40 miles from me, if the final price is right it could be worth a trip.

most of the yellowish discoulouration (supposed to be fake cigarette smoke stains?) on the pickguard of my JMJ mustang has rubbed off so I think it is in better than mint condition

I've sucessfully used just a couple of small dots of superglue to hold a new nut in place - its strong enough to keep the nut in place when you want it to hold, but giving it a clout from the side is enough to break the bond without causing any damage to the fingerboard or nut when you do want to remove it.

I had a B9 for a short while. I really wanted to like it but it didn’t really work out for me so I sold it on. I think my main issues were that it didn’t track reliably and would occasionally glitch. This was probably due to my sloppy technique or it might have had something to do with using a mustang with flatwounds.

Here's the latest update of my board. I've added a Mooer bass sweeper as I was feeling nostalgic for the original bassballs I had years ago

To add the new pedal I moved the caline power thingy to the back and tidied up the cabling - including cutting a pair of the jack cables in half and soldering a new pancake connector to the cut end of each to make four very short cables.

The sweeper is great. I found it worked best as the first pedal before the thumpinator & spectracomp. It can make same weird  noises I remember my old bassballs doing but can also make some very usable sounds - now to convince the band to do a cover of the (Detroit) Spinners's rubberband man so I can make some funky noises with it.

I've changed my mind on these now I've seen this. To me it just looks weird and out of proportion. EBMM should have made it with a body shape designed specifically for the shortscale like Leo did with the mustang rather than scaling down the body of the familiar stingray and making the proportions look out of whack.

The Badass II was always the coolest looking Fender replacement bridge, however the Fender High mass is half the price of the other badass-inspired bridges, works just as well and looks just as cool on a Fender with Chrome hardware.

Its a bit of a Frankenstein - it has a Squier mustang neck so only the body and hardware on the body is Bronco. The price probably reflects the investment the seller has made into the neck pickup & colour upgrades, but its still a bronco at heart.

Probably homemade by someone who is more comfortable working with metal than wood. Perhaps the Eko neck was from Brandoni as they bought up a load of stuff from the Eko factory when it closed in the late 80s

I believe it is indeed called cherry burst and was part of 1981's international colour series.

I  was waiting in all morning for a visit from the UPS man bearing bits & bobs from Thomann, including an EMG Geezer Butler pickup and a Fender High Mass Bridge for the Precision I bought new from Rockbottom in Croydon 37 years ago.

As soon as the parcel was delivered I got my screwdrivers out and after installing the bridge & pickup and doing a setup this bass has never sounded so good or looked so cool.

These look nice but not £1.8k nice

I've used it a few times - no issues so far. The cost was taken only when I went through the process to order the postage & generate the printable label.

There will always be the type of punter who wants the 'latest & greatest' so I see why they have to change the 'top of the range' offering every so often and hype it as something groundbreaking. The instruments look good and seem to address Fender's preceived shortcomings against more refined versions of these designs from other makers at a similar price point. Not for me though.

They forgot to do an ultra version of the best Fender bass - the mighty mustang! Good to see that the £30 high mass badass-style bridge is considered high-end enough for these - I have one on my Squier SS Jag & have another on order for my '81 Precision. I guess the custom shop's RSD bass bridge from five or six years ago didn't take off.

I remember seeing the Kay ones hanging up in woolies above the bontempi organs in the mid 70s. I think they were about £25 new.
