1. Apart from the lie regarding the neck, the title is still unacceptable even with the word 'copy' thrown in. It is against ebays rules to use a brand name in the title to describe a product which is not made by that manufacturer. Thats why I never sell cheap Hoovers, Sellotape, Biros and Kleenex
2. Don't think there's anything weird going on - its free listings this weekend, so these listings are probably have been put up quicky as placeholders until he has time to get pics & write some copy.
3. Anyone a regular on the musicman forum? I'm sure 'Big Poppa' on there would be pleased to confirm the authenticity of the neck.
4. I went to a shop with money in my pocket ready to buy the one they had in stock. I had been gassing for it since I had seen it on my previous visit and loved how it looked. When I tried it however - it was heavier than my '81 "QE2 anchor" heavy-ash precision, It had hardly any volume acoustically and the bridge saddle was fixed, so changing to a set of TIs could possibly have resulted in way-off intonation. I went home with the money still in my pocket and no regrets.
5. I think the HiMass is basically musch the same as a Gotoh. I had a Gotoh originally when I built my fretless precision, but swapped it out as I preferred the punch you get with a BBOT. I did a dry run without drilling (blutak) and tried putting a bridge cover on - it will fit, but the screwholes will need to be between a quarter and half an inch further back than for a BBOT. With the screwholes in the normal places it definitely won't fit. With the holes moved back, you should easily still have enough room that the front of the bridge doesn't play peek-a-boo out from the front of the cover.
6. Just looked it up on their website - looks like a bargain at that price
7.
Brandoni Guitars apparently do a fairly decent one.
I've built a Telecaster guitar & a fretless Precison bass from Brandoni Parts - Necks & bodies seem to be of a quality equivalent to my MIJ Fenders.
8.
...because Mr Fender obviously though it was needed to keep the scratchplate down. In the eighties they realised it was unnecessry
Not quite how it was. The pickguard material used in the 60s was prone to warping, so without the hole, the guard could lift in this area. The cheaper modern material they used in the 80s was more stable.
9. I use routenote.com - it's easy & gets the tracks on amazon and a few other sites as well
10. Standard for 60s & 70s Jazzes - its probably just to keep it flat as the old celluloid ones were prone to warp
11. Not sure I'd want to listen to one of their tracks let alone 20. I still haven't forgiven them for that brief period where it seemed that dreadful ruby song seemed to be played everywhere I went. Novel concept, but why not just offer the lot for £15 and save all the farting about?

13. Absolutely ridiculous He must be having a joke at the expense of wealthy idiots with cloth ears.
14. I the cellar still part of the music ground empire? or have they unloaded it to someone who might give a toss? For me Wunjo was the only place I ever felt comfortable in browsing to kill time in Tin Pan Alley.
15.
Thats nothing, if you're talking about unneccessary holes destroying a fine bass, take a look at the pics this guy has on this ad... 16. The last foto-flame I saw was a cherryburst jazz in a well known purveyor of quality basses quite a few years back. It was very nice, but the previous owner had had it converted to fretless and his right forearm had worn the finish & the flame right through to reveal a creditcard sized patch of very plain anaemic basswood underneath.
17. when I was young I used to like Heinz ravioli. wouldn't eat it now though - I dread to think what that mushy meat filling is actually made of. I love the look of the epiphone, but unless there is a simple way of plugging the f holes I wouldn't consider getting one for gigging unless it was for a low volume/acoustic band
18.
...but then I saw this 'American Special' thing with a 'unique feature' in the form of a new 'slim', fast action neck.
not sure how what would work
19. I have to wonder what the other basses were like if the kay was the best of the bunch. All the kays I had the misfortune to play in the 70s awful planks. I think the necks were made out of old railway sleepers. If you must have one, set up an alert on ebay and an email alert will appear in your inbox before too long.
20. In my experience Badass on a Jazz = Good Badass on a Precision = Not Good
21. James Corden in something funny? I s'pose there's a first time for everything
22. japcrap Yamato jazz copy. bought new from soho soundhouse for £75 late 70s. it was a horrible piece of junk
23. I wouldnt worry about the pickup, but there should be a law against using the later headstock shape with the earlier body . it just ain't natural.
24. No note - I deadened mine by using self adhesive rubber strips under them
