1. Please stop posting these pics - I'm a recovering bassoholic and I'd been gas-free for over two weeks until I opened this thread.
 2. According to their website they're on their hols until Wednesday 6th. They should have set up an auto responder on their email to let people know though. Are they the ones that like to find bands on myspace & keep spamming them with special offers dressed up as a personal message?
 3.
http://www.worshipguitars.com/product_info...?products_id=61
What's up with that website? click on one the links & it tries to download a php file. Try to go to the home page, at worshipguitars.com and it says access denied. I wouldn't be surprised if those basses were coming out of the same factory as sx - generic copies sold under any number of names at a similar price. Then again Jesus was a carpenter by trade, perhaps he made the basses, but isn't quite as good at making websites.
 4. Anyone seen this on the tv shopping channel? http://www.guitarwiz.co.uk/ Imagine turning up to a gig and the guitarist was using one of these? & they'll sell you a £13 tuner for £30
 5. If I saw someone using a capo on bass, I'd probably assume he was a numpty who doesn't know his fingerboard very well.
 6.
Has anyone tried fitting a D-Tuner to the 4th (E) string of a 5-string bass?
I seriously doubt it
Is there room?
Only one way to find out
 7. like the S1 switch on US jazz basses a few years ago, putting the single coil pickups in series is supposed to make the bass sound a bit more chunky like a precision.
 8.
DAMN!!!!! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DANELECTRO-LONGHORN-...e#ht_720wt_1165
Cool Colour - not seem them in that colour before - it would look great with a chessboard pickguard
 9.
I don't want to touch the strap buttons =S And i can't change bass! my bass is perfect with my setup Maybe i should try other shirts, idk, is that really the solution?
The only other variable is the strap - maybe try a slidey poly one, a stretchy neoprene one. One of those daft-looking criss-cross ones...
 10. an all-original 1966 daphne blue fender mustang in near-mint condition with lollypop tuners & creamy pearl pickguard
 11. the grey stuff I used came from a now sadly closed-down hardware shop (turtles in Croydon). Iti similar to but a lot finer than the green bit of kitchen scourers and is sold as an alternative to wire wool.
 12.
I find that Scotchbrite does the job very well. It takes the gloss off without removing a lot of varnish.
I recently did this to a few of my basses (& a couple of guitars) - It makes a great difference. I used grey scotchbrite equivalent to fine wire wool.
 13.
That's a great acoustic bass.
Cheers Pete - it is certainly is more impressive than I expected for the price. I bought it myself & after it arrived the missus gave me a wad of twenties to cover the cost instead of a frying pan over the head which I was expecting for buying another bass, so its a bit of a result all around.
 14. Come on,. Waddya get? & I don't mean Straight Fries or Crinkle cut? I got one of these http://www.tanglewoodguitars.co.uk/product...mp;sID=66461282
 15. If you mean ones to fit split-shaft knurled Pots: The answer is yes. You can loosen or tighten the fit if required by gently squeezing the two sides of the shaft together with pliers or easing them apart slightly with a screwdriver - but be careful not to break one of the sides off.
 16.
JLP's one was full of win.
I'll probably start missing it now you've posted the pic I still have one of these though:
 17. I have ashtrays on my precisions & jazz, & also put one on my daisy rock. I use 'em as a hand rest using a style shamelessly ripped off from a certain Mr J Jamerson. Unfortunately I'm only able to emulate the style of positioning my hand - not the note-choices & rhythms employed by him. Also I don't go as far as doing the claw thing.
 18. My new Tanglewood Rosewood Reserve TRB CE Electro Acoustic Bass delivered today. Its ex demo so I got it at a little over half price on ebay. It was immaculate except for the strings which were rough feeling & had the typical acoustic bass scratchy sound. I had also ordered a set of TI AB344 which arrived last week, so I put them on. Blummin 'eck the bridge pins are a bit of a struggle, but I discovered the knack and with the TIs on it sounds wonderfully rich and smooth. Then I plugged it in - wow very uprightly. Its much easier to play with the TIs. I'm chuffed with it - it should be loud enough for acoustic rehearsals. The missus isn't too happy about me getting another bass, but I've talked her round & she's going to pay for it as my xmas pressie.
 19. Its the shop you have to get arsey with, not the manufacturer if you want to take it further. Personally I wouldn't bother though.
 20. What a nutter. Then again nutters are probably the target market.
 21.
I'm confident some people will be interested to see it.
yep, I was. Thanks for posting the vid.
 22.
I was about to deplore this unseemly hostility towards such an esteemed visitor to our little island during the season of goodwill to all men. For shame. Then I noticed you only get to meet him if you buy one of his rather expensive promotional hats. So you're paying him £15 to advertise his product. For that sort of money I'd expect a soapy ***-**** from his Missus. I therefore invite the tight-fisted, gap-toothed, faux-psychotic, fanboy-exploiting fret-masher to pack his cash-filled Hermes bags and shag off home to his adoring acolytes, thus avoiding the likelihood of having a tightly-rolled item of headwear rammed up his Sheriff's badge.
I can't add anything to that, so I'll just say +1. Apart from the bit about his missus as I don't know whether she's a munter or not.
 23.
Hi MM, thanks for the reply, just to clarify slightly, when I phoned my local music shop to ask for prices I was told I should use standard size strings, I knew short scale strings existed, hence my confusion. Regards Jim
Don't listen to them, you spoke to someone who makes things up if they don't know the answer. Flatwounds (Particularly the E string) [s]will[/s] are likely to snap at the tuner if you put 34" scale ones on. You are more likely to get away with it using roundwounds though. The shortest TI Flats are 32". They work on a mustang because of the string-thru bridge, but as the bronco is toploading, TI JF 324s are too short. LaBella short scale deep talkin flats should fit, but phone stringbusters (or whoever you buy from) first & check the length of the G - I've had some that weren't long enough & had to use a G from a long scale set. Rotosound short scale jazz bass flats are likely to be the perfect length as long as you get a good set - however I haven't bought any rotos for years after getting consistently bad sets last time I wasted my money on them.
