1. There is a 30" short scale version available as well which would have been right up my street had it been about a quarter of the asking price.
2. A few years ago I really fancied an unlined fretless precision, but Fender weren't making them so I put one together from brandoni parts.
3. Hang on - you didn't mention earlier that it was warped I'll take back what I said earlier. As its warped I think that is better cause for returning it than "it don't blummin' fit!" - packaging removed or not. There's a chance that a warped pickguard would have shrunk as well, which in turn could cause it not to fit.
4. I tried tab once - its like an even more disgusting version of diet coke
5. Welcome to the deep side. I absolutely hate roundwounds. Especially new zingy ones.
6. Difficult. I'm sure you're kicking yourself for not trying it before removing the film. Is the PG within spec for a US PG? If not (for example if it has shrunk), I'd think you have a case for returning it as faulty. I know a standard USA PG would fit my 1990 MIJ 62RI precision, so maybe the shape changed for later ones? Mine is the model with 70s style tuners, but in nickel. However if the spec of a '96 MIJ precision is different to that of a USA precision, I don't know if there's much you can do about it unless they said specifically that it would be right for your particular bass.
7.
Yeah that's what i thought but it's just the way the Americans pronounce the word "solder" so i suppose he's just spelling it phonetically.
Makes me cringe everytime
8.
Apologies for off topic, I had one of these collapse at a gig, and my Ricky and P-bass ended up on the floor, I'm not convinced they're man enough to support 2 x basses, guitars being lighter i guess are ok.
I had the neck piece break on one of these.
9. Its a 'custom' though... if by custom you mean 'f**ked up by a numpty who had no idea what he was doing.' I can't work out why the fingerboard was wax treated for protection? To keep the rain off perhaps?
10.

Wow. I never realised that Jimmy Saville & Cheggers were in a band together!
11.
...can anyone convince me otherwise?
Nope! If you don't like it fair enough. Would you really change your mind if someone explained why you should like it. I don't like much of the thwakkita-thwakkita stuff Marcus is most well-known for. but I really enjoyed the clip - ta for posting it.
12.
Did try using a large biscuit tin, but it wasn't quite water tight, and the meths leaked out!!
I bet it ruined the biscuits as well.
13. Here's me on my '71 musicmaster at the Oval Tavern in Croydon. This was recorded on Tuesday. We're playing the easiest song in the world, but I still mess up the ending...
14. I hardly touch my db, but wouldn't be without my NS CR5-M. Even though I tend to take my mustang to most gigs and an Ashbory to jam nights.
15. I reckon that IF it is original, it's an '82/83. Headstock just like my '81. No holes in body/pickguard for pickup/bridge covers. Holes for thumbrest, white pickup.
16.
If the Dasy Rocks wernt so pink, then maybe I'd consider it.
I picked up one of these on ebay for £135. fecking brilliant bass - sounds massive despite the colour scheme.
17.
I've been looking at the mustangs but I was wanting something different.. they are very similar to the musicmasters in looks.
Daisy rock?
18. The synth tracks well on my GT6B with my mustang - not that I ever use it in anger though. Are you using a 2 pickup bass. If so try using the neck pickup only & roll off the treble
19. No contest - get a Japanese Mustang reissue - mine is my no 1 gigging bass. Secondhand ones crop up for around £300 on ebay for the standard colours of white or red, a bit more for the non-export colours which don't come up very often.
20.
Just gor my hands on an epiphone thunderbird and am going to do the normal strap button position modification. Any ideas what would be a good material for filling and finsishing off the hole from the original strap button screw. Just want something that will be permanent and easy to get hold of.
When I did my 'snow-white' epi t-bird, I put the original screw back in there with a countersunk white nylon washer under it.
21. I dunno about most people, but I'm happy with off the peg basses once they have been tweaked to my preferences. Degloss the back of the neck if required, set up with the action low with TI flats, replace the pots & socket with CTS & switchcraft, roll the fingerboard edges, put on an aged pearl pickguard on a mustang, chrome covers on a Precision, badass bridge on a jazz, hipshot d-tuner etc Getting one custom made would take all the fun out of it.
22. I tend to set the eq flat on my LMII and tweak the vle & vpf to get the tone. Although at the gig on Saturday I did roll off a little bass to compensate for the room.
23.
its been the same setup since ive had had, even using the same type/gauge string, it and its only just started buzzing.
Most likely it just needs a setup then. Probably just a truss rod tweak. Most basses need this twice a year as the seasons change. - well mine do anyway.
24. What a crazy website. Its almost as if navigating it was deliberately made difficult. Then no indication of any prices. For the price of one of those instruments they could have a paid for a proper site many times over. Weird. Its a bit sad really - all these guitars will probably end up in glass cases in lawyers offices.
25.
It continued to fruition here: http://bassoutpost.com/index.php?topic=434.0
Thanks for the link. I wonder if Bach would get some more of those made...
