I wouldn't use a scourer. Fender sell cleaning kits made by a company that does car cleaning products. Dunno whether t-cut would do the same job, but probably worth looking at the stuff Fender is selling.

I play an NS CR5M. I doubt I'd ever want to add markings to the ebony board on my unlined fretless, but if I did I wouldn't get lines, I'd go for a cascading dot pattern like on the NS - not sure whether that would be more or less of a job for a luthier than lines though.

A Kent armstrong cool rails dual blade humbucker makes my cute little '71 daphne blue musicmaster bass sound massive and as it has a plain black enclosed cover with no poles showing it looks totally stock. I've also tried a hotrails - in my daughter's musicmaster, but that's all growl & not enough woof for me - even with dead flatwounds.

I have about a dozen or so basses. Some I don't play much - and two or three I play a lot. I would like to thin the herd, but I think I'd miss even the ones that hardly get played. Most are hanging on the wall, so in a way serve as artwork. When I took my unlined fretless bitzer precision to a jam night a week or so ago - the first time I've played it for a long time, it really felt like having a new bass as it was so unfamiliar. It seems there's something about playing an unlined fretless that makes people think you must know what you're doing as I got lots of complements about my sound and playing - which wasn't far off how I normally sound or play when people don't normally give a flying monkeys

looking good on the iPhone - haven't looked at the app version yet though. one question - at the bottom of each page there's a previous & a next button - is there an option to display paged nav like the old version did?

I can't recall ever seeing MIM jazzes in that colour but I've seen Squiers in that shade of metallic blue. The one I played came with domed precision-type knobs as standard, so that *might* explain the weird knobs on it. The pics aren't good enough for me to say any much than that.

are wunjo still trying to pass off a squier bronco bass with a broken & crudely glued musicmaster neck as an original '71 musicmaster like they were last time I was in there?

Its a cool rig and I want one. the bloke demoing seems to be talking a load of old bollocks as if its been soaked in snake oil. My modern lightweight rig sounds just as good to me and weighs much less - it doesn't look as cool though. I already have all the tubbiness I need. Didn't Jamerson normally DI into the desk?

The marmalade did tend to stain the lacquer though.

The Jazz with two single coils & the precison with a single split p/u (or a PJ) are so iconic that these just look wrong. I'd rather look at what Squier are doing (currently trying to work out how to buy a candy red jaguar shortscale without the missus noticing)

Yep - I have Kent Armstrong 'Jazz Lipsticks' in my Highway 1 and an Alinco P in my fretless bitzer - great pickups at good prices. I believe the pickup wizard learned his trade working for KA.

neither - the most important bit is the cable connecting them
