    Thanks to BB2000, I received a set of Hipshot late 60s-style precision bass lollipop/butterbean/oval tuners in the the post this morning I just had to drop what I was doing get them fitted them to my Fretless Precision. This is a bitzer I built a few years ago from MIJ Brandoni Neck & Body, Kent Armstrong Pickup and various bits of Fender hardware. gotta love them lollys

    A couple of simple tips that helped when I set mine up: the bridge should line up with the notches on your F Holes & ensure the bridge is perpendicular to the top with the strings in tune.

    I think a thunderbird can accurately be described as a singlecut. Although the comfort, sound and balance may not be to everyones taste, I do believe anyone who says a thunderbird is ugly clearly has no taste.

Strange to have marketing aimed at 14 year olds when they're selling accessories that would be bought by people with much more disposal income than the average 14 year. Then again perhaps their target market is guitarists rather bassists.

    Yawn! Any thread started with a post that ends with the word "discuss" usually seems to be not looking for any answers, but looking to start a flamewar. What a pointless and sad thing to do. Some people might like playing with fingers Some people might like playing with a pick some people might like playing by slapping the strings with a sardine Some people might like using a combination of the above and other techniques So what? Get over it Move along nothing to see here.

    Mistakes happen. I think I had an ordered mung years ago when they were pincotts, but they sorted it out with the minimum of hassle. I don't know what their gold parts are like 'cause I've never ordered any - I don't like my basses to look like Hyacinth Bucket's bathroom fittings. Did you contact them to give them a chance to sort it out? If not its a bit odd to post here first.

    I bet with my cloth-eared, cack-handed rhythm guitarist hat on, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the sound that comes out of this amp and some of my best patches on guitar rig.

    Thinking back to my formative years I got into bass as my best mate already had a geetar, however I recall even before I bought a bass I always listened to the bass on records. On a record with good bass, how it sounds and locks in with the drums always appealed to me more than any amount of guitar widdling. I still enjoy the occasional strum on my thinline tele though.

    Looks like someone got a bargain - these are pretty much like the current Japanese Fenders aren't they? The 98p on the price is odd - you'd often see bids a few pence over to beat a previous max bid that ends in a round pound, but not a couple of pence below

    Yep try a fatfinger. If it seems like expensive snake oil, go to the tools aisle of your local 99p store and buy a mini cast-iron g-clamp - one of the tiny but solid ones. Put this on your headstock to emulate the effect of a fatfinger - remember to pad it with thick card or similar to protect the finish. If it eliminates the dead spot - buy a fatfinger. If not you've wasted a quid.

I have a squier vista musicmaster bass (but its a funky shell pink with matching headstock, so not everyone appreciates it). There's not really a lot of difference between it and my mustang, although I do prefer the mustang. Its different, but no better or worse than my '72 Fender musicmaster. I would probably sell it if the price is right.

    i wouldn't want a bass that sounds like that. Looks like a 30" scale - in the pic with the case the bass is too big, but not much so it must be a guitar case. Looks like fun, but 'hardwood' body doesn't inspire confidence. Technically Balsa is a hardwood, but I wouldn't want a bass made of it no matter how much reverb it creates.
