1.
You knew that.
I must admit I didn't know that, but I do now - Cheers for the info.
2. Even more so than even basses I think. I was briefly in a band in the 80s with someone whose dad had a fiesta red (or salmon pink as he described it) 1957 strat in very good condition. He said he bought from Buddy Holiday at the end of Buddy's UK tour. Not sure how true the story was - it looked like a genuine '57 - not that I had ever seen one before & whatever it was worth when I saw it would probably be a tiny amount compared to its value today. If he had documentation to prove the Buddy Holly provenance (not sure if he did) I expect it could be something even Sir Paul would get his wallet out for.
3. It would be easy to make. If I needed one I would probably do it by making a little adaptor box with one in & two out speakon sockets wired for series, then carry four speakon to speakon cables. Then in the event of a connection failing there's a handy spare.
4.
...The only thing that worries me about this version is that it looks more "game controller" size than proper guitar size.
I'm used to playing an Ashbory so I'm used to comments like "he's got a fisher-price bass"
5. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Rock-Band-Wireless...-/dp/B003RRTYEQ
Use as MIDI Guitar Controller when not playing Rock Band (compatible with most MIDI sequencers)
I used to use a Casio Midi guitar to programme stuff into cubase when I was into electronic music, but the latency prevented me from using it to play basslines live. I wonder how this toy guitar would be controlling my Yamaha FB-01 and/or Control synthesis Deep Bass Nine tone modules.
6. Peggy Lee's version of Fever
7.
Didn't they nick that bassline off Vanilla Ice though?
But Jedward wrote it
8.
Money - Pink Floyd
That one always get a cheer when its on the setlist & I start playing the intro. Also the Animals "We've got to get out of this place", that probably says more about the average age of our audience compared to the average man in the street.
9. Its Jamerson isn't it? Close enough for rock & roll, but I think that 45 is warped - I have it on CD somewhere I'll give it a listen.
10. You can get an unfinished or sunburst alder body comparable to a japanese Fender (ie probably made on the same production line) from Brandoni in Wembley - if they still have them. A '78 will not relic in a cool way like 60s one, it would be more normal for it to have just picked up dents & scratchs rather than bare patches & mojo.
11. I've just noticed in the specs that the Epiphone T-Bird Pro V has a dual action truss rod. All of my basses have 'normal' truss rods & I recall that on the Squier musicmaster I used to own, It had quite a chunky neck compared to my mustang & TI Jazz flats didn't had enough tension to pull any relief into the neck, so I had to use heavier LaBella strings instead. I'm guessing that if that bass had a dual action truss rod, low tension strings would have been OK? Any other differences with a dual action truss rod? Is there anything different I would need to keep in mind when doing a setup on a bass with one? I've sold a couple of basses this week, so it looks like a T-Bird Pro-V with natural oil finish might be coming my way soon if I can work out a way of making the missus think that its her idea that I order one.
12. I'm sure halfords sell suitable tape on a roll in various colours & widths for adding pin & go-faster stripes
13. Give Silent Fly a shout - If anyone can I bet he can.
14. I think someone has recommended these in the past as an ideal case for a Markbass LMII
15. mmmm - reminds me George Porter Jr's bass
16. I like it. (But I like daisy rocks basses.)
17.
A wind up bass guitar ?? As per wind up torch or radio??
That would be good for an active 6 string guitar to get its power from something connected to the tremolo arm. However it would probably only work for guitarists who like to play the type of solos where they have to pull funny faces.
18. paint it yellow & sell it on ebay as a rare MarkBass Head
19. Definitely a hohner jack. The hardware looks identical to the bits on my 1986 hohner b2a.
20. Reverse tuners are the old-style ones you see on 50s & 50s reissue basses. To tune get into they go backwards compared to normal tuners. You won't want one of those. Without a pic of the back of the headstock, your best bet is to eyeball it and pick the one that most resembles your current tuner. I'd guess that you'd need either a GT5, BT7 or BT10.
21. Just ordered a set of Slap Happy Weedwackers for my cheapo Stentor DB via eBay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=140471271501 Not sure of what to expect, but they seem to get good reviews and as long as I don't get ripped off with customs charges they've cost me £17.14 GBP inc delivery. I'll report back when I get them & have had a play on 'em.
22. Wasn't there one hanging up in the Bass Centre (during the Brune Street years) for a while?
