I only use flatties on my basses & favour TI JF324s so haven't tried the Legacy Bass strings, but I can confirm that Legacy electric & acoustic guitar stings are very good for the money and when I get through the ones I have I'll probably buy some more.

Garageband & an old tascam US-122 on my MacBook beats my stand-alone Boss BR-1180 HDD recorder hands down for ease of use & flexibility. Since getting into Garageband I'm more likely to fire it up than Cubase Studio 4 (& I've been using Cubase since 1990 on the Atari and pro24 before that)

have you tried the Gallery?
CIJ v MIJ?
There's only one way to find out...
Are you saying that there are no benefits in learning the fretboard inside out and ear playing is sufficient for real time stuff?
No
I mean that when playing a line I've practiced or when improvising I don't consciously think 'I've just played an A, the next note is a C and then there's a G'
I'm sure there are benefits to knowing the fretboard inside out and if I could be bothered I'd probably make an effort to improve my own ability to point to any note on demand.
Did you miss the 'wink' smiley indicating that the last line was not to be taken seriously? -
So my question - do you always know, even when impro'ing, every single note you play?
Nope
Also I don't consciously think 'now I have to put my foot down on the clutch' when I'm driving.
Knowing what you're doing is overrated -
What if you've got a through neck bass?
yer f'ked
- that's why I like my epi thunderbird.
Great post Bod - when I did all my bolt-ons to get them just how I like them I never thought of using a capo to stop the strings unwinding.
My Bitzer fretless Precision has a slice of the missus's credit card in the neck pocket. She wasn't happy at the time, but it stopped her buying shoes. -
This looks lovely.
You'd paint over that lovely sunburst with some lurid colour though wouldn't you Wayne? -
Most accurate tuner?
In my band that award would go to the drummer.
If you want accurate and cheap, you can't beat the planet Waves SOS. -
I might be interested. They vary a lot and I'm a fussy bugger. Any chance of posting a decent pic?

Kent armstrong jazz lipsticks. Not your granddad's pickups. Got 'em in my highway1 jazz (but with an East j-retro) chromey goodness
-
The 2006 ones are very rare - it could be worth a lot of money.
-
If it normally comes with four valves as standard it should have been mentioned.
A jazz bass still works with only one pickup fitted, but I'd expect it to be disclosed if one was offered for sale with a pickup cover fitted covering just a hole in the wood. -
Pick? PICK? It's plectrum mush - always has been, always will be. Bleedin' Shermans.
Who else calls them pleckies? They were always called that in the bands I was in years ago with schoolmates and now my kids call them that. -
Its not your problem that the courier are playing silly buggers - he's the one that has to claim from the courier.
I'd raise a paypal dispute without delay and tell him you've done that. Only communicate through the dispute interface so paypal have an audit trail of messages back & forth about the issue. You can cancel the dispute if the issue is resolved.
It should work:
You get money back from Paypal -> paypal gets money back from seller -> Seller gets money back from courier
But if the process stalls at the 3rd stage it is the seller that has to thrash it out with parcel2go, so really you shoudn't worry about getting involved any further than providing evidence to him about the state of the amp. He'd have to take the hit anyway if they say it did not comply with their packaging standards. -
Wouldn't the custom shop make the custom orders?
It's got some weight to it yeah, but not bad really, after the Overwater which was a bit of a beast this is quite nice in comparison.
That's good to hear - mine could have been used as an anchor for the QE2. -
Is that a super-heavy ash body like my P bass from the same era?
And 'pickguard'.
It's 'scratchplate'.
No it isn't - Jean-Luc Scratchplate would sound daft -
Here's a little something I enjoyed putting together with GB. Its great fun to use - like playing with lego.

I have one of the original korean reissue blueburst longhorns - quite a faithful reissue of an original 50s one, but with separate tuners and a truss rod. It fits in a telecaster gigbag or hardcase which is handy. The wide spacing of the lipstick pickups gives a unique tone. The neck is a bit meatier than my CIJ mustang in depth, but still quite narrow. Its comfy to play though and light as a feather. The bridge saddle on mine is a single wedge of rosewood, but with rotosound shortscale flats (the only flats I've found that fit) it intonates well enough for me. I don't use mine much and have only done a few gigs with it, so even though its a few years old it is still pretty much in mint condition.

I think the literal translation is "I think I'm down with the kids, but in reality I'm a bit of an arse"
90 staff at my equivalent site in the US were 'transitioned' on Friday. How insulting!
That makes it sound like they were turned into cybermen or something -
It's a load of crap though isn't it? "We're going to have to let you go" and all that rubbish is worse, as you know it means sacked, but no-one has the stones to say it and are hiding behind niceties.
No sh*t Sherlock!

Yum!
You could always Lynott it with a mirror pickguard - that WOULD look good.
