1. I suggest you contact Allan or Roberto at Brandoni - Brandoni have lots of old necks including NOS vox. Not sure if they have any vox ones from this era, but if anyone has anything that will fit they will. www.brandoniguitars.co.uk
2.
That's got such a glam-rock vibe about it.
Or funk. I'm sure bootsy would love it - it almost looks like is should have a mu-tron III circuit built in (mmm... there's an idea )
3. Well the hasn't turned up yet. I'm sure it was supposed to be one day delivery, but maybe it hasn't been sent yet. I'll give it a few days before chasing it up. In the meantime here's a closeup I found by googling I love the les paul jnr doublecut shape & It looks like the violetburst will be less "pinky" than the other pic I found on the Daisyrock web site. mmm - When it arrives I might have to 'forget' to give it to the little 'un and keep it for myself...
4.
I find 32" or 33" a good compromise and there's a noticeable reduction is stretching.
The Daisy Rock I have coming in for my daughter's xmas pressie is a 32" scale and Daisy rocks all seem to have skinny necks. Don't know if you'd care for the "Clares accessories" styling though.
5.
that is AWESOME! Expect a very happy daughter come christmas day. She know she's getting this?
No it'll be a surprise. She found it on ebay, but I told her I forgot to bid. She doesn't know how to look at completed listings so doesn't know I put in an offer. - I'm having it delivered to the office so she won't see it.
6. Thats what happens when the plans are in cm, but the luthier works in inches
7. She's not really got any bass heroes, but she does seem to enjoy playing the blues & soul things that I've been teaching her so far.
8. I managed to get one of these on ebay for my 12 year old daughter's xmas pressie - a daisy rock stardust elite 32" scale bass. It should be delivered tomorrow. She's been after this exact bass for ages as her purple daisyrock heartbreaker is uncomfy to carry and she isn't allowed to taker her lilac '71 musicmaster out of the house. Its so pretty I'm almost tempted to keep it for myself (not sure what my bandmates would say though ) Not bad for £220 & listed as new http://www.daisyrock.com/products/basses/elite_bass.htm
9. I usually have a few windows open on the page and keep refreshing them to get a handle on how fast the site is responding and if there's any price movement. I can usually get my high bid in with just three or four seconds to go. I have won a few auctions where people have put their bids on in the last 10 secs and my bid comes in just after. I doubt that this approach would work on dial-up though.
10.
Have you ever smelled a Lowden acoustic guitar ? I kid you not, there is a definite woody (cedar and rosewood construction) "nice" smell off my F25C. I've had it three or four years and it's still there every time I open the case It's the most expensive air freshener I've ever bought
I have an old washburn D23 acoustic with rosewood sides and back - it smells lovely.
11. Glad it wasn't serious and was sorted so cheaply. My old Trace combo's power board once selfdestructed with a loud fart at the start of a rehearsal once just by switching it on (with the gain & volume down to zero as usual) resulting in a £200 bill to replace the board. No idea what caused it
12.
i voted for Decades because i thought the others were ummm.. not as good.
+1
13. I'm so tempted... http://guitare.playback-europe.com/takamine-b10-6783.html
14. I made a fretless precision and a telecaster using brandoni parts. The body & neck are very good quality. Much better than a Squier; more like an MIJ Fender. The pickups are very good, but I didn't use the bridge and tuners as they were cheap generic ones and the pickguard had different hole positions & shape to a fender.
15. Beautiful! It almost exactly like my '81 in the same colour. Mine has an s8 serial & came with ashtrays and a black pickup cover. I suspect yours is an '82 or 83 as it has the white pickup cover and doesn't look like it has been drilled for the ashtrays. Is the body Ash like mine? Heavy Northern "bassball bat" ash not the light swamp ash
16.
Depends what you can get it for - it probably wouldn't make 3 figures on Ebay. J.
It shouldn't really make 2 figures, but I guess some people may see it as a kitch wall decoration. I remember them being sold new in woolies for about £25 in the 70s. They were cheap crappy beginners instuments that well-meaning parents bought for their offspring in the same way argos sell their bottom of the range cheapies these days.
17.
You mean this site? - http://www.basscentre.com Hamster
Ah Ha - I have a shortcut in my favourites to http://www.basscentre.co.uk
18. I wonder why the Bass Centre Web Site has been down since the end of last week
19. Schallers always come loose for me. The best straplocks I've used come free with Grolsch beer in the proper fliptop bottles. Not sure if Fender supply them with Pino's signature bass but he uses them too.
20.
Check out the link I've put here. She runs 3 different rigs and uses a line select pedal to split her signal. Simple but effective idea! Amy's Bass World - Rickenbacker and Rig (Part 3)
Cool Clip. Clatter are Great.
21. I don't think there should be any real confusion - its just a way of describing the time machine models that haven't been given the relic treatment. They also have the closet classic range which apparently has something to do do with Tom Cruise.
22. I use a Markbass LittleMark II with my Schroeder 1212L and love it - Its very easy to dial in a lot of good sounds through the Schroeder using just the VPF (Variable Pre-shape Filter) & VLE (Vintage Loudspeaker Emulator) controls without resorting to the eq. Of course if you did end up getting one you'd have the added bonus of having your name on the amp
23.
people who use backing tapes should be taken outside and flogged with a sh1tty stick. Bogus...totally f. bogus indeed.
It really p155es me off when 'buskers' in the local high street use a bigger PA than I've used on some gigs meaning you can't get away from their stangulated Celene Dion & Phil Collins karaoke.
24. The biggest difference I could see from the spec was that the new version enables multiple songs to be loaded up concurrently, so hopefully tracks can be copied & pasted from one arrangement of a song to another.
