  1. I can tell straight away that the pics are of a later bass as I own two 1972 musicmasters. The bass in the pics was made sometime after 1978.
  2. Pure Tone are my favourite jack socket. Any bass or guitar I acquire that doesn't already have a switchcraft or other quality socket gets a pure tone. I don't wait for the stock one to fail - in my exerience the flimsy ones as fitted to squiers etc are likely to fail at some point - possibly at an inconvienient time.
  3. Yup - that's the one. I always used to use switchcraft, but fit these now. I usually have at least one in my bits box.
  4. Ii found myself in Epsom yesterday with the missus and she insisted on dragging me into GuitarGuitar. They had some tasty strats & teles hanging up, but no mustang basses, however there was a mint condition secondhand squier mini precision with a fender guitar gigbag for just under a hundred quid. I've been half thinking of getting one of these in black so I could put a mirror pickguard on it for a mini Lynott-alike, but this one is red. I had a play on it and it was surprisingly decent. It would have been rude not to have bought it at the price so I did. This morning I have raided my bits box and the bass now has a Fender hi-mass bridge and Status short scale stainless flats. I also rolled the fingerboard edges, applied some lemon oil, fitted a rosewood thumbrest, and given it a setup. I was originally thinking that I'd want to get an EMG Geezer pickup for it, but the stock ceramic one sounds very good with the flats, so I'll probably not bother and will just solder in the spare pure tone output socket I found in the bits box. The only thing I don't like about it is the single ply bright white pickguard so I'll probably order a replacement from Brian Pillans. Not sure on the colour I'd get though. Who else has a squier mini Precision and what upgrades have you done to it?
  5. Up the Wooden Hills To Bedfordshire - The Small Faces
  6. The tuners are the same as the ones used on early 70's musicmasters, but with different paddles.
  7. I've carried a jazz and a precision in my hiscox - each was very snug in it with no room to move about.
  8. The Monster Munch - Bobby 'Boris' Pickett and the Crypt-Kickers
  9. My Daphne Blue JMJ is so good that I bought a black one as well. I'm just hoping that no other colour becomes available as I will feel compelled to buy that as well.
  10. The sender can cancel a pending eCheque, which they can do by contacting their bank. If an eCheque has cleared, it can't be cancelled. But the sender can request a refund. Don't release the bass until the funds have definitely cleared.
  11. As long as I can Hold My Breath - Harold Budd
  12. He's been running his workshops at every Glasonbury since the dark ages so it is possible.
