  11. I have a pair of Epiphone Vintage Pro Thunderbirds in sunburst and white. I really like the vintage look of them but the stock wilkinson tuners, although perfectly functional just didn't look right to on on the massive headstock so I upgraded them to gotoh gb640 res-o-lites, which are perect as unlike other large plate tuners they wind the normal way rather than reverse. Also being made of duralumin — the same alloy as the frame of the hindenberg, they are super lightweight.

  13. You could probably stablise the crack with superglue or something. The cracked area looks like a prime spot for the finish to flake off if it gets caught on something or knocked again. I bought a white thunderbird vintage pro from trash converters for £250 including an epiphone hard case as it had a deep dent on the back of the neck and one on the edge of the headstock. As the bass is was white I was able to fill the damaged areas with white milliput epoxy putty and once it was scraped level with a razor blade, it looked good as new apart from slightly matt areas which could be probably be improved if I ever get round to sanding/polishing the repaired areas.

  19. I bought one of these for my daughter when she had a go at learning bass many years ago. I remember it as being a great sounding and playing bass. The Duncan Designed pickup punched well above its weight. I probably would have kept it as it was the same scale length as the mustang bass I was mostly playing at the time — when I only owned one mustang, but it didn't really fit with the vibe of the Americana band I was in.
  20. Don't believe HerculeIes's BS about being safe for the finish. have a hercules stand with the same grabby head piece they use on their wall hangers. I had one of my JMJ mustangs with roadworn nitro finish, and the grabby bit of the stand reacted with the finish of the neck where it held it. As it is a roadworn bass and I caught it early it's not a massive deal, but I now use use a t-shirt over the stand so it doesn't directly touch the bass.
