In your position I'd probably take a spokeshave to the kit guitar neck followed by some sanding to get a better profile. What's the worst that can happen?

The listing says it comes with the original case, but only an aluminium edged flight case is pictured. The sunburst looks a bit unusual, but could it have been a three colour burst where the red has faded from sitting in the sunlight for too long?

I've never heard a difference in tone or sustain from fitting a shim, however whenever I shim a bass I always use a thin piece of card in the bridge end of the neck pocket. This will increase the angle of the neck rather than just raise it. A thin shim applied like this will have as much impact on the height of the string at the bridge as a much thicker full pocket spacer like a credit card.

The two back screws in tis pic look like they came from B&Q rather than being the type used on instruments, so maybe the bridge isn't original to the bass? In your position I would be inclined to order something like this one: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/276111677941 and be prepared to fill & redrill the holes if they don't match up.

Here's the latest iteration of my pedalboard. As you can see I am limiting myself to boss pedals at the moment (apart from the thumpinator). I have just today replaced my LMB-3 Bass Limiter Enhancer with the more advanced — and hopefully less hissy BC-1X Bass Comp. I also have a CEB-3 Bass chorus which I took off the board when I bought the AW-3 Dynamic Wah recently. As my board (The most excellent Harley Benton Spaceship Power 50C) has now run out of space, I'll try to not aquire any new pedals for a while, however if a secondhand BB-X1 Bass driver in excellent condition pops up at a good price, the Monte Allum modded ODB-3 might be evicted depending on the results of a shootout.
