  1. Little Umbrellas - Frank Zappa
  2. I like basses that look like they could have been made in the late 60s even if they were really made earlier this year. Obviously they won't get a look in if they are uncomfortable to play or sound bad. My JMJ mustangs, vintage pro thunderbirds and guild starfire are my favourites.
  3. Babe, I'm On Fire - Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
  4. Multiplying Pain - Barbara Lynn
  5. I quite like the competition stripes. I'd like to see if they come up with any FSR mustangs with maple fingerboard and a funky colour though.
  6. Rotosound jazz flats are the only flats I don't like. They had far too much tension for me and the last time I bought them the winding was inconsistant making each string felt different. My curent favourites are: D'addario Chromes ECB81M 45-100 on my Fender Mustangs Ernie Ball Cobalt Flatwound Extra Slinky 40-95 on my Epiphone Vintage Pro Thunderbirds I don't have a favourite roundwound as I don't use them.
  7. 'Made in Mexico' no longer indicates an inferior instrument. My JMJ Mustangs are my all time favourite basses, and my recently acquired FSR 70s vintera hardtail stratocaster is absolutely faultess.
  8. Bad Medicine - Bon Jovi
  9. I already have a Squier Bass VI in Lake Placid Blue amd a Squier Classic Vibe Competition Orange Mustang Bass, so it should be possible to upgrade to the Fender versions without alerting the missus to the new acquisitions. 🤔
  10. Hake Rattle & Roll - Bill Haley & His Comets
  11. Prawn to be Wild - Steppenwolf
  12. No Particular Plaice To Go - Chuck Berry
  13. Proof that its possible to modify an instrument to such an extent that its only fit for the bin
  14. JMJs are always rosewood. It darkens up very nicely with an application of lemon oil
  15. Barbie Girl - (not) Johnny Cash
  16. I currently have a pair of daphne blue ones and a black one. My favourite basses ever. Do I need another black one...?
  17. daal basmati rice naan bread onion bhajis samosas
  18. I have swapped out the pickguard for a Fender 11 hole 3 play black one and the plastics for a black Fender accessory kit. I had to wait a day before doing this as the screw holes for the pickups and switch in the original pickguard were countersunk, but they weren't in the replacement. I had the choice of either using a countersink bit on the new pickguard or ordering new round head screws. I ordered some screws from armstrong music yesterday and they arrived this morning. Couldn't resist this stratocaster t-shirt from sainsburys!
  19. My Fender Mustang GTX100 guitar amp is almost perfect. The emulations of top amps and pedals sound brilliant, and with the ios app to control it, it is very easy to use. I'm about to try using it as a USB interface in logic to overdub some guitar onto a track. As I went to plug the usb cable into the back of the amp I couldn't tell which way it has to go in. As it is micro USB, trying to force it in the wrong way will destroy the socket so I have had to refer to the manual to ensure I only apply push it when its in the correct orientation. Any other type of socket would be preferable to micro usb - old USB B or USB C would make so much more sense. Even the old mini USB would have been better as you can see which way it should go and it would be impossible to force it in the wrong way causing damage.
  20. I have a few things listed for sale on gumtree and I have received a few messages containing the text "Hi, is this still available?" after answering that it is I never hear from the person again. What's the game here? I expect there's some kind of scam being attempted, but what are these fools up to?
  21. Ten Foot Pole - ZZ Top
  22. Feeling Yourself Disintegrate - The Flaming Lips
  23. Ride A White Swan - T-Rex note: Do not attempt to ride a white swan - It will sink and result in a very irate swan. Don't ask me how I know this.
