How much do you spend on strings
Jean-Luc Pickguard replied to JoeEvans's topic in General Discussion
The sets I 've bought most recently are D'addario Chromes ECB81M for the mustangs and the Starfire, Ernie Ball Cobalt flats on the thunderbirds. I paid around £50 a set for the chromes & around £40 for the cobalts. My precisions and other basses are okay with what they already have - mostly 10 year old thomastic JF344s -

I once had a delivery of books delivered into the wheely bin on bin day. By the time I saw the card they were long gone. -
Lovely looking thing; I had been admiring it on the gallery website.

The buyer has now confirmed that the guitar has arrived in one piece. Phew! I've been sending other items using royal mail, or parcelforce for larger items. However parcelforce don't cover guitars/basses. Does anyone have a preferred courier for basses or guitars? -

Well, it has arrived with the buyer and I have asked him to open it up to check it is okay — the box appears to be intact on the delivery photo, and I packed it well, but the tracking message yesterday saying "shipment damaged/destroyed" triggered my anxiety big-time. -

The telephone number is useless; it is a robot that just tells you what you already know from the tracking with no chance of speaking to a person. The webchat is also a robot but if you're lucky you get an opportunity to escalate it. I did that yesterday and have just got a reply from evri support saying the guitar should be delivered today, so I'm hoping it will arrive with its new owner in one piece. The email I received was from the address [email protected] — that might come in useful in the future, but until I try emailing it I wouldn't bet against it being set to bounce incoming emails. -

The size was 108cm x 53cm x 12cm and I paid the price packlink quoted plus about twenty quid for insurance against evri being careless tw@ts. I've just looked up evri's maximum size contraints and found this: according to my calculation this is: 2 x (53 + 12) + 108 = 238 So the size shouldn't be a problem even without having to argue that the box tapers so the volume would actually be less than if the sides were parallel. The tracking on Packlink is now showing three new updates timestamped this morning each saying "It is in the carrier’s network, on its way from its origin to its destination." No indication of where in the world it is though, and I've not had the promised update. Oh well tomorrow's another day. -
I sold a guitar on Reverb. Booked the evri via Packlink on Wednesday on a 24 hour service as I didn't want it sitting in a depot over the weekend. It was picked up Thursday so should have been delivered on Friday, but wasn't. I have been trying to find out what's happening and this is the tracking info on evri's site: I'm not sure why they are saying it is bigger than expected — I entered the correct weight and dimensions when booking the delivery. Trying to find more info I discovered different tracking information on the Packlink site: Evri's automated phone system seems to be designed to infuriate and after going through various options which offer no new information, it hangs up with no chance to speak to a sentient being. I'm now waiting for someone at evri, and someone at packlink to get back to me with an update.
