  1. Just had a look at the basses on the Andertons website. If I wasn't so into my JMJ mustangs I would be seriously gassing for the custard coloured telebass. The Vintera II mustang basses have the wrong tuners — they have the Gotoh GB10 type with the undersized string post, as used on the CIJ models rather than the lovely lollipop hipshot HB7 of the original vintera and the JMJ.
  2. Andertons have posted a video - looks like it only covers the guitars rather than the basses, but I'm watching it now

  4. Sounds like they should have set a reserve, but didn't as it would cost them an extra 4%.

  7. That low E string doesn't want anything to do with the fingerboard does it.
  8. Thats a thick ol' bit of ebony.
  9. Yes — Sounds like a fret polish is needed. One way to do this which is inexpensive but can be a little messy is to use 0000 steel wool which is safe to be used on a rosewood fingerboard if you go with the grain, but always use a steel fret mask or masking tape on a lacquered maple board. If you do use steel wool, also mask off the pickups as the magnets can attract the little bits of steel wool that break off

  14. I don't get on with active basses — I much prefer passive, but when I used to regularly play an active one I came up with an idea to get around this issue. I never built it, but the design would have been a short length of cable with an inline switch in the middle, a stereo jack plug at one end, and a mono jack socket at the other. The cable from the amp goes into the socket, then when plugging the jack plug into an active bass with the switch set to off the battery in the bass stays off until the switch is set to on. I never bothered to build it as it was easier to just unplug the blummin' bass when it wasn't in use. While typing this up, it just struck me that this could probably be better built as a pedal with a footswitch where the amp connects via a mono cable and the bass via a stereo cable.
  15. I was totally gas-free about a week ago, but then I saw a kala resonator tenor uke at a very good price at trash converters and a b-stock classic vibe competition orange mustang guitar at thomann and I couldnt resist either. They both arrived yesterday and I currently have no gas (for now.)
