1.
I'm really sorry it didn't work out for you
no worries Mike, i had to give it a go and it really is a nice bass, one of those things unfortunately.
2. it just doesnt fit well with my forearm unfortunately
3. Its superb....but i play with a plectrum and its always going to hurt over the course of a gig
4. Its with a severely heavy heart that ive decide to put this up for sale, I only took it in trade for a Hohner Jack a few weeks ago and was bowled over by its looks and its sound, theyre both lovely.........trouble is as a dedicated pick player the bound slab bodied sides wreak havoc with my forearms during a gig so much so I had to change to my usual Jazz last night, im gutted i really wanted this as a keeper but for me it is uncomfortable to play. I dont want to trade as such unless its for something interesting, i would much rather a straight sale, im not going to budge on the price either as its worth every penny not only for its looks and sound but also the exclusivity as it is a genuine one off. If it hadnt been a bound body i would have had a forearm chamfer added and a refinish. Postage will be around £15
5. finally had our first near miss last night with the gear, halfway through the second set this bloke who was obviously 3 sheets to the wind bounced up like he had done thoughout the night and tripped just in front of the pa stack i hide behind, i managed to catch my mic stand in my right hand and the lights which were behind the pa with my left, unfortunately on doing this i hurt my back and my left elbow which im sufferring with tennis elbow at the moment. One death stare later and i never saw the d*ck for the rest of the set, there are times it pays to be an ex goalkeeper!
6.
I would buy that car too I have seen this orange being described as "Focus orange" by some. I guess it's a different demographic issue
Its the colour they used on the Ford Focus ST
7. Bought a strap off Andy and its exactly as it was described, spot on!
8. for £1800 id expect it to be perfect, you wouldnt accept a new car if the doors didnt fit properly.
9. yeah either side, i was shocked to say the least, all the bitsa`s ive put together dont have any gap whatsoever. it was very noticeable as it was the natural wood finish it looked like 2 black lines either side of the neck.
10. I agree, the basses I looked at today were shocking regarding set up, you would think that the shop would want to enhance the playability of any instrument they sold
11. What's an acceptable tolerance for neck pocket fit, I looked at a USA built jazz today and it had at least 3/4mm-1mm gap either side, for £1800 I expected better, the Modern player mex was far superior
12. Traded my Hohner with Mike for his Retrovibe, top bloke, great communication, couldnt ask for more really.
13. you dont need to go to the trouble of wiring them to the output jack, un solder or de solder them and just hold the 2 wires onto the end of the lead obviously the hot wire to the tip of the jack and ground to the side of the jack saves the hassle of soldering and unsoldering
14. better piccies, mmmm captain birdseye maple!
