1. The trouble with buying on here is everyone waits till youve bought what you want before listing it cheaper, now if only bassists were pschyic a lot more gear would change hands on here
2. ebay, simple as that, there are many bargains to be had on the bay. Or alternately the for sale section on here.
3. and this is what i built up

Jazz

Heres my latest Jazz and my first to wear the Fender logo first fretless too.
5. I got my 'Funder Jeff Bass' ala fender stylee off a guy on ebay, theyre £8 or so quid for 2
6. Oooh emg's i was wondering what pickups people were putting in these cos the few that are for sale have different almost guitar like pickups in surrounds on them rather than the split coil p in a box original. Its arrived at home now so the ruler will be out when i get home measuring the cavities. Only other problem i might have is the string retainer, ive heard it was just a clamp so normal strings could be used im hoping i can make my own here at work.
7. Well we all know that a guitar doesnt exist till we see pics, well here it is finally, my birthday present to myself in all its fretless glory or should that be gory! Its a Japanese Fender Jazz neck atop a VM Squier body, Fender pickups off a Geddy Lee, Squier Bridge and tuners, Fender flats and one of KiOgons wiring harnesses with a push pull pot for series or parallel. 14. any of the following......... a flying v bass in white (guitarist has a custom shop white one} an Explorer bass or a T`bird

16.
Thanks DarkHeart, for starting this really useful thread. I'm *cough* an err... virgin too. I've not succeed in securing a fretless yet, but having restless nights in anticipation What I'd really love is a Warwick fretless, but funds wont go that far yet. Does anyone here have any suggestions on what to look for in a first fretless? I read/heard somewhere to go for one with lines. Is this critical or will marks do? I've seen this - it may be useful to others: Cheers Richard
im in the process of building another fretless jazz which will be to sell if your interested, its a couple of weeks away yet but it will be cheap
17. Ok this is probably a pointless thread but as the title says im a fretless virgin, what are the best tips to success for someone who has always had frets to rely on? I will eventually get pics of the gorgeous fretless jazz ive just built when the person (not from here i hope) that ive bought the control panel off, gets his finger out of his arse!
18. Took a project off Owens hands for the price of postage and a donation, top bloke to deal with.
19. the passive slb2 pickups were a bit on the quiet side if i remember right as it was a budget bass in the day, id imagine the active bass will have a bit more punch, i used to love mine though cos it was my first `proper` bass.
20. i had the Slb2 in the early 90`s, yours is active, big switch is pup selector small switch is active on/off, front knob is neck pup vol, middle knob probably the bridge pup vol and back one tone, i stand to be corrected though.
