2. MAG C210T-300 EVO II Combo 307W 2 x 10" + tweeter bass combo Combo details here; Hi All. Bought this from Paul S, here on Bass Chat last May. Since then, it's not been out of the house or used more than a couple of hours in total. My practicing is usually done through my small combo practice amp, so this is taking up floor space and is going to waste. Combo is around 30 months old, in excellent to new condition and comes with an Ashdown fitted cover and blue speakers (unlike the stock picture). Collection (where you can try it out) is the best option, or I'm willing to meet/deliver within a reasonable distance of Saffron Walden, Essex, for fuel. £200 ovno. Cash or bank transfer, cheques to be cleared before combo handed over. Sorry to be so hard nosed but I've been stung before (not here on BassChat) and have vowed never again. No paypal and no shipping outside the UK. Thanks for looking. Mark Edit to remove cabinet details.
 3. Thanks for the introduction, Nice, nice, Very Nice. reminds me a little of 'Camel', another largely forgotten band. Play.com have the Ambrosia albums for download and on CD (looks to be good prices too.) Regards Mark
 4.
Seconded
It's the bike I had the most fun with certainly. I rode it to the factory in Breganze when Laverda were based there, enjoyed track days at Cadwell, Mallory and Goodwood, met up with 200 like minded loons on a couple of occasions in Holland and made some good friends I still see 25 years later. I sat in my garage one night, just looking at it. Some one once said the Jota looked like it was doing 100 mph while standing still. Nothing else sounds like it, I really do miss it.
 5.
You sold a '79 Jota!!!!!! What the f*** is wrong with you Man? Best bike I ever rode - sex on wheels!
I'm ashamed to say it gets worse. Some years later I bought another one, never rode it and almost gave it away, along with an RGS! I too admit to being a cock.
 6. Turning down the offer to teach scantily clad women how to jet ski in the Bahamas, selling my '79 Laverda Jota, getting engaged to a nut case, not studying while at school, swapping my Columbus Precision copy for some really crap darkroom equipment that I never used in the mid 80's. But..... my most proudest and best achievement (even that wasn't entirely down to me!)..... becoming a Father for the first time at the age of 44 and seeing my wonderful Son grow up....... sheer magic of nature.
 7.
Is this the five minute argument or the full half hour? Ah nostalgia...
I've told you once.
 8. Hi Folks, I have a V1b 'Pocket Rockit' (oo er missus) practice amp. It plugs directly into the jack socket of the bass, my headphones and mp3 player plug into it via the unit's two 3.5mm jack sockets, letting me practice without disturbing the peace at home. I'm looking for a wireless headset (bluetooth or similar) which uses a small transmitter so I can plug into the unit and thereby lose one set of wires. This means I can pick up and put down my bass without being tethered to it, all these wires are driving me crazy. I've found this, has anyone used it or something like it they can recommend? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Zoom-Bluetooth-Hea...pd_sim_sbs_ce_3 Not too expensive would be preferable. Thanks in advance. Mark
 9. I worked in the civic centre of a local authority. No offices, all open plan, with different departments separated by screens. The personnel department (human resources? what prat thought that up?) was next to the section I sat in. We had a memo go round, stating the policy on sexual harassment. Our floor was usually quiet. Eileen, a middle aged woman who always dressed to impress (lots of cleavage, tight skirts etc.) read this memo, gave it thought and then called out to loudly; 'This sexual 'arassment, 'ow do I apply for some then?'
 10. "Na, it was a different one that killed Irwin, this one kills your back."
 11. Hi Fellas, I bought the book and really enjoyed it. You all recommend the DVD too? Regards Mark
 12.
I just got a set of TI flats from stringbusters for my ibby & coupled with the mf-101 I'm getting an amazing bassy sound just like I've been looking for. I'm seriously considering defretting it now, but may just save for a 5er & defret it. BTW, where did you get the La Bellas? I tried to get em but everywhere was out of stock.
String Busters. Silddx posted they had a delivery last week. EDIT: Just checked String Busters web site, La bella's still in stock.
 13. Thanks for the input chaps, much appreciated. Since buying the Jazz from Phil Mann last year, it's rapidly grown to be my favourite bass, sounding fantastic with La Bella Hard Rocking Steels, but I'd like to try to get a deeper, bassier tone. Regards Mark
 14. Hi, Just bought La Bella Deep Talkin' Flats (standard gauge). Any one tried them on a Jazz? Pleased or not? I know it's very much personal taste but... Thanks in anticipation, Mark
 15.
Yes, I agree now, probably wouldn't 6 months ago. I'll enjoy the function band for loads of reasons anyway (the money is v. useful for one) and the band are a great "family" who know how to have a good time on stage. I'm just so amazed that I never appreciated these classic songs before. I guess playing them with muscians who are wrapped around the genre helps, but it hit me when I had the charts in front of me, it was an "OMG" moment, "this is beautiful". Great when music does that isn't it? Could be playing a new bass, or hearing a new amp, or learning a new tune in any genre really.....'nt music brilliant.
Totally agree. Thanks to the good folks here at BassChat I'm now listening to music I would never have considered previously and loving it. Current favourites are Motown classics, really enjoying James Jamerson's playing. Many congratulations on the gig, let's hope 2010 brings you even more joy. All the best, Mark
 16.
gnomes - now that would be an'elf of a thread !
No No No No!!!!!! Whatever you do, don't start that. The Fairy Godfather will send the boys round. They don't duff you up, they criticise your hair.
 17.
sorry, spent all my cash on prawn..

I think you posted that just for the halibut.

Oh come on, guys...haven't you got better fins to do?
Ok.ok, stop kicking me in the tentacles. You lot are really crabby today. Thank goodness I didn't say anything about gnomes!
 18. Dear Bass Chatters. I sincerely and without reservation, deeply apologise for mentioning a fish. Had I known at the time that this simple error of judgement would lead to an outbreak of punning of a lowly and intelctually insulting nature, I would never have ventured down that canal of depravity. Now, can anyone lend me sicksquid for a taxi?
 19.
Or The Piece of Cod that Passeth All Understanding?
excellent. Passeth all undertaking is a motorpike and side carp.
 20. Well I enjoyed it, great playing and lifted my spirits this afternoon. Thanks for posting the clips guys. Horses for courses.... I found the Dizee track unbearable, but then I find all that genre unfathomable carp, don't like having someone shout their opinions at me disguised as music. And before any self righteous zealot screams racist, John Cooper Clarke was doing the same thing in the late 70's and that was 'king awful too.
 21.
Anyone for a 'moist Barking growler?'
I think I dated her for a while.
 22.
Depends what you mean by perfect ear. If you mean perfect pitch, then you can't train to get it. Good relative pitch on the other hand is very easily achievable (unless you're tone-deaf). Perfect pitch is where you are able to indentify a note without reference. Relative pitch is where you are able to identify a note in reference to another. I think most good musicians have relative pitch to a degree. But perfect pitch is a genetic thing.
A girl I know has perfect pitch, she was born with it. Her friend at music college with her learned to have perfect pitch.
 23. Did anyone notice if his Hofner bass was plugged in? Couldn't see any evidence of a wireless set up. Must be imagining things.
 24. I've got a Pandora PX4D and I use Sennheiser EH150. Good bass, but the clincher for me was the 6' lead. No more putting the bass down and having the headphones ripped off my head, plus no need to sit right up close to the computer when watching DVD's or listening to CD's either.
