1. After playing bass for 25 years and thinking I was a competent player I started playing jazz about 5 years ago. I feel like I'm standing in a valley looking up at a very high mountain and I've only climbed about 10 feet of it so far.
2. I'd say anyone could excel at both if they wanted to, it's just a matter of feel and practice. And what about jazz, swing, country, latin, reggae etc? They are all different styles and it depends what style or styles you are interested in playing.
3. Played to a pub full of drunk women all wearing school uniform. Best evening I've had for some time
4. Studio version and one of us will upload an mp3 to Dropbox so we are sure we are all learning the same version
5. I only have two basses, my 2005 fender Jazz which I play all the time and my 'spare', an Overwater Classic J which come out of it's case once every couple of months if it's lucky.
6. Loved the second clip, first one not so much
7. After using a single 1x15 for years I changed to two Aguilar GS112's last year
8. The spaces between the notes are as important as the notes themselves.
9. Very good gig last night, one of the best Iv'e had with my present band. Well paid, free drinks, enthusiastic audience, we all played well, three encores. I'm feeling really pleased until........I come back into the pub after loading my car to see the drummer having a rant at our guitarist/bandleader which ended with him resigning with immediate effect. Bad end to a great evening.
10.
I wonder how many people are sick of hearing it.
Judging by the audience reaction when we play it, far fewer than I'd like
11.
Walking on Sunshine absolutely do my head in
So glad I don't play that one anymore
12. The best thing Basschat has done for me was to give me the motivation to find a teacher. I found an excellet teacher via this site ( Steve Lawson ) who inspired me to explore aspects of music that I wouldn't have thought myself capable of before. Apart from that, I've learned a lot about gear in general and I always find something interesting to read about. I'd like to thank everyone who takes the time to share their knowledge on here.
13. I'm starting to get a little bit bored with Valerie having played it at every gig I've done for the last five years.
14.
harmony parts and little dance-moves and stuff with tambourines and sh*t. .
Take notice of what Skank says, it'll be much better with two
15. I use mine with either 1 or 2 Aguilar GS112 cabs. I get a nice full, rounded sound out of them. Most of the time I have the tone controls on the amp at 12 o'clock and the VLE at about a quarter.

18. With me I wouldn't say it was total recall but it does surprise me how easily I can remember songs that I haven't played for years.
19. I'd like to say I agree with the OP but I'll have to wait until the end of the month when I get paid and then I might post something.
20. I'd recommend you get in touch with Steve Lawson ( he has a thread in the Bass Tutors forum ) , I had some very good lessons from him a few years ago.
