That's pretty much how I feel about it. It was my third rehearsal with a new band and I'm starting to understand how a couple of the other members run their lives.

And guess which mug paid extra to cover for them?

From last Sunday's rehearsal

Drummer - " I'm broke so I can't pay my fiver towards the rehearsal room "

Keyboardist - " Neither can I, I'm broke too "

My band split up in June mainly due to lack of work and I've not gigged since then. On the bright side, I'm having my first rehearsal with a new band today and I'm really looking forward to it.

Anyone remember Here & Now? They were around in the late 70's, early 80's if I rembember correctly.

Think I'm going to spend the rest of the morning looking through my old vinyl and getting nostalgic.

I had this problem with a guitarist in my old soul band, there's a little bass run at the start of 'Land of 1,000 Dances' and he always used to play it along with me but not quite in the same time so it sounded terrible. Eventually it annoyed me so much I had to tell him that only one of us was going to play that line and that would be me. He was one of those guitarists who always had to be playing something and had no concept of leaving any space, I don't think he realised what he was doing until I pointed it out to him.

That's Olympic White, probably doesn't come over too well in the pictures.

I've just advertised my Aerodyne Jazz in the for sale section if you're interested.

For sale - Fender Aerodyne Jazz bass, bought new by me in 2007. This is the Japanese non-export version with scratchplate and front mounted jack socket.

Neck is standard Jazz profile and pickups are to P/J configuration. I have replaced the original pickups with Wizards, a 'Thumper' for the 'P' pickup and a 'sixty four' for the neck pickup.

IMO they give the bass a warm sound with plenty of 'thud' but there's loads of treble there if you want it.

The bass is in very good condition with no dents or scratches on the body or neck. There is some very light buckle rash on the back which you can just about see on one of the pics below.
There is some tarnishing to the control knobs and one of them has been replaced and sits slightly higher than the others (again, see pics below).

Bass comes with Schaller strap locks (original strap buttons will be included), Fender gig bag, original paperwork from Fender Japan.

I'm looking for £475.00 (price drop from £525), or I could be tempted by a fretless and some cash my way.

Delivery - I do not like sending basses by courier so I will deliver within a reasonable distance of Luton (say 50 miles) for something towards my petrol, or you can collect or we can meet half way.

I reckon it will, the dimensions of the control plate look identical to the J-retro on my Fender, including the screw spacing. I've just had a look inside the control cavity and there's plenty of room.

just measured mine, width of the neck at the nut is 40mm against 38mm for both my Fender Jazzes. Radius feels a little bit chunkier than my Fenders but is not too different. It has passive controls, they are volume, pickup blend and tone instead of volume, volume, tone that the Fender Jazz has. I'd say considering it costs alot less it compares very favourably with my Aerodyne.

I'd listened to jazz before, but John Coltrane's 'A Love Supreme' was the first jazz album that really blew me away. I still think he's the boss (closely followed by Miles and Mingus)
