2. Me and my drummer are both big Soul fans so we started a Soul band together to play the music we like to listen to. In the past I've played music that I wouldn't normally listen to and still thoroughly enjoyed it, the fact that I'm playing is the important thing for me, playing music I really like is a bonus. I choose cake over death
3. Back in my early teens I had no real concept of what a bass guitar was. I didn't start playing the bass until I was 21
4. The Temptations Greatest Hits Genre:Motown Bassists:James Jamerson, Bob Babbitt Some great Jamerson basslines to play along with, Ain't Too Proud To Beg is possibly my favourite bassline ever, Papa Was A Rolling Stone has one of the most minimal basslines ever but also one of the funkiest
5. For weddings and functions my 9 piece bands starts negotiations at £1000, less if it's local or for friends. We charge more if the gig is a distance away or we have to be there particularly early or leave particularly late. We always specify that we need to be fed. Next month we are doing a function where we have to be set up, soundchecked and out of the way by 8pm, first set is 10-11pm, second set is 1-2am. Including travel thats's going to be a 12 hour day and we are charging accordingly
6.
Yeah, I have been noticing how now a days bassist play a lot of slap. I dont really like slap(I dont like playing it.) Are there any people dominating the scene with there fingers. My favorite thing about a player is when they can groove. Are there any players that play with there fingers and can groove? Im having a hard time explaining this. I know people play with there fingers but I mean, Is there a bassist that fingers like Victor slaps?
I had the same problem when I started learning back in the 80s. Slap was really fashionable then and I just couldn't do it no matter how hard I tried (still can't). I decided fingerstyle was going to be my style and I wasn't going to feel bad about it. Not being able to slap has never been a problem for me. +1 on CKs and The Pauls lists of bassists, all as funky as they come.
7.
most tabs are one persons interpretation of a song, more often than not nothing like the original.
Thats what I've found, which is why I've stopped using internet tab sites.
