1. Anyone like EB3s? heres a tasty first year 1961 Gibson EB3 with a lovely cherry colour still mostly unfaded - an absolutely killer bass with a great fat neck more pics here http://www.flyguitars.com/gibson/bass/1961-EB3.php Plus I recorded it through some vintage amps (60s Ampeg B15, Gibson Atlas, 70s WEM dominator bass) - listen to the sounclips here http://www.flyguitars.com/gibson/bass/1961gibsonEB3soundclips.php Jules
2. Yeah, Gibson were a bit slow on this, and early fretless basses did indeed have the side dots in the wrong place. Nothing a marker pen and some tipex can't (reversibly) fix
3. bump
4. Yes it will work in theory. Gibson used guitar pickups on a few basses - the EB6 had regular PAF humbuckers, and the SB300/SB400 basses had pickups that were also used on the SG100/200/250 guitars. But whether you like the sound is down to you. I suspect that ther variation across different pickups is probably massive. The stock Gibson bridge humbucker is pretty bright sounding, and most people blend neck and bridge to get what they want. I think you'll have to try a few things and see.
5. nice bass, do you play it out?
6. sold
7. This is now on ebay at £850
8. Just been playing it through an old WEM Dominator bass, and an old Ampeg B15. Sounds especially good in the single coil mode (I assume it's that) . I can make a video or some sound clips if anyone is interested.
9. I've just reduced all prices, anyone need parts?
10. well the toggle is for the dimarzio model 1 - changes from single coil to humbucker IIRC. Note that this switch is not an extra hole - the old bass choke switch would have gone in there for the original wiring.
11. I'd also consider a trade for a good condition early 70s Marshall 50w JMP bass head...
12. bump for a great bass cab
13. Just to say I am looking for a various vintage bass parts (Guild/Vox/Gibson etc) so might consider trades on these items.

15. Thanks for your comments, very much appreciated. and i'm glad you're all enjoying the bass. But I don't think it was shipped any earlier than very late 1967. These were certainly shipping into 1967 with the non intonatable bridge (see Gibson bass bridges), but it would also have had the wider of the two metal humbucker covers (see Gibson bass pickups). The hardware definately says later. It is possible that this neck was made and stamped a few years earlier, and sat in the factory for a few years before being shipped - Gibson did funny things like that at times. I haven't taken the pots out to check the codes, but i'm pretty sure they will say late 1967, or even early 1968. Have a look at my 1967 Rivoli that isn't for sale http://www.flyguitars.com/epiphone/bass/1967EpiphoneRivoli.php - pot codes on that are just past the middle of '67. If this is an issue to anyone we can go into a whole lot more detail, or I can show more photos, even check the pot codes.
16. no longer for sale
17. ok thanks for the interest and comments Re # 2 i've now updated the pic for the second badass - thanks Re # 3 thanks for the info - this is a great bridge, Better than the original I replaced it with Re # 5 the ferrules measure 14.4mm external diameter Re # 9 Someone suggested that this was an early Dimarzio model P. I don't know enough about those to say for sure. I'll start at £50 There will be a price drop on anything not sold by this time next week, but feel free to send me offers in the meantime.
18. I'm having a clearout - it's that time of year, and i'll be adding more stuff as the week goes on. I buy a lot of vintage basses, and often take 'upgrades' off and replace with original parts. Please note postage is extra, typically under £5 for these items. If you need any extra pics, description, measurements etc, let me know.
