1. What a classy looking bass!!
2. Lookin' good.
3. You lucky bass player you
4. That's great. I've had a Zeller and it was a good sounding instrument. With the extra work yours has had it must really sound excellent.
5. Eude - I understand your excitement
6. A couple of months ago, you could buy a BassBone for £130-ish. Thanks to the merchant bankers of this world (pun intended) that's now £160-ish. Still cheaper than in the UK though. No ETA has been set for the 9. I'm not in any particular hurry and ACG HQ is a busy place.
7. That's good to hear. I've had nothing but good experiences with them. Every year, my parents ask me what I want for my birthday and ask for strings (surprise, surprise). My Mum 'phones them up with no a clue what she's asking for. They're always very patient with her and I get my strings in a couple of days.
8. Yup, that Sei fretless is wonderful. I do like those Warwicks as well, though.
9. What a find. Nothing like the old Warwicks.
10. TD20 drums!! They're pretty darn amazing I have nothing but admiration for people who can build stuff like that. I can't even saw straight. Most importantly have you got some kind of phone to the house to ensure a good supply of grub??
11. I've heard nothing but great things about Accugroove. If it's good enough for Bill "The Buddha" Dickens, it's good enough for me!! The Nightbass is run through to the awesome power of a magnificent Trace Elliot Boxer 15. I also take a line out of the back of the Nightbass to a Presonus Firebox for recording. I also have the ART Ultrafoot controller which has 2 continuous controller and 10 buttons to control the sounds. I would love to get hold of one of those Tonebone Bassbone things so I can keep everything, including my Petersen Strobflip tuner (what a great piece of kit) plugged in all the time. It also allows some wet/dry signal blending.
12. It's good fun isn't it
That's clearly unsane! Alan showed me that string last time I popped round. Are you going to be upgrading your rig in order to reproduce the low notes? Eude
I don't have a rig as I can't play live. I do have an ART SGX Nightbass which has like a gazillion things on it The real advantage is that this bass has the ACG-01 preamp which goes down to 20Hz already, so even the low notes can be shaped.
13. Came across this pic last night and thought I'd post it here. The string on the right is a .130 which is used for a low B string (on a 5 string bass for example). On the left is a 0.195 which is used for a low F#. Unbelievably, strings are being made up to 0.239
14.
Looking good. I love that RIM headstock.
Agreed! The fishtail's pretty cool as well.
15. It's looking very, very good. Can't beat a bit of quilt maple
Mine's not far off and I'm excited in case you can't tell
With my 9 coming down the home stretch, I know how you feel
16. Cue Christmas and something will give
17. Hopefully, this will be of help. http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Electronics,_p..._Jazz_Bass.html I've have a bunch of StewMac stuff and the catalogue's really handy to have around
18. The Fender Sting signature bass has the contoured body. Although you might not like the Sting sig at the 12 fret.
19. Before I list the most recent CD's, I must say that I'm wearing asbestos pyjamas Matt Scannell & Richard Marx - Duo (Great acoustic album). That led me on to buy: Richard Marx - Emotional Remains & Sundown (2 CD's released simultaneously). Vertical Horizon - Go & Everything You Want (Matt Scannell's band, why didn't I find this earlier. Nu-metal/rock vibe). I've also bought: Brad Paisley - Play (the "Guitar album" from the new country star). Jonas Hellborg - Art Metal (pretty crazy weird metalish stuff).
20.
Great to be an owner of a Sei bass Thanks for the heads up on the other thread too Mark. I'll wander over there. I'll also try to dig up some pics of my last Sei bass- flamboyant six fretless.
No problem. The first Sei I ever played was a 6 string fretless. That experience led me down the slippery slope to Sei bass ownership over a decade later!
21. I've just come across this story and was shacked, saddened and eventually happy at the outcome. I've put a small contribution across to the shipping fund. Sorry I couldn't afford more. It's a darn shame that one bassist has taken advantage of another, but deeply moving how other bassists can rally round and go out of their way to help resolve the situation. Congratulaitons to all those involved in getting this bass to it's rightful owner. As others have said, what a warming Christmas story.

My rig

Cool bass and rig. It's a friendly forum here. Even my silly question have been answered
23. Unfortunately, the photos on the site don't do it justice. jmanfunk - Great Sei bass. Good to see another owner on here
24. As they only build to order, the string spacings on a Sei can be anything that the customer wants. Personally, I would base your string spacing on the bridge which you want to use.
25. I have to admit to having not played a Shuker (yet). Jon de-fretted and ramped my Conklin GT7 and he did a great job of that. Unfortunately, we had a family bereavement and so had to quickly collect the bass and continue our way back up north. I'm not sure if I like the original designs or not, but his J-basses look very, very good. If I was in the market for a super-J and couldn't stretch to a Sei, then I'd definately look at Shuker as well as Sadowsky Metro and used Lull's and NYC Sadowskys. His prices must be very keen indeed as they're mentioned quite a bit in this thread. It seems as if he has the balance between quality, affordability and affability, which is a winning combination. As OldGit says Jon Shuker's order books are full and that tells the story.
