1. Blimey How cool is that !! Great idea though. Could be a good little business.....
2. Very cool This is one really interesting diary. Great to see how you get around problems like replacing 6 tuners for 5.
3. I've played d-basser's Dingwall and it really is a great bass with a great sound. It gets a little confusing when playing up high as the dots on the side of the neck are directly above the fret one below (directly below the 17th fret dot is the 16th fret). It's not an insurmountable problem though!! The only other thing about Dingwall's is that you might not be able to get your favourite string brand because of the 37" B string.
4. That Bandit 6 is pretty darn cool
5. They're stunning basses. Never played one though !!
6. What posseses you guys to put torty guards on.....
7. Blimey, a solid ash bodied bass for that price. Pretty cool
8. Thanks for the very cool info I had thought that the body might be made of "mamywo" but had no idea what it was!! I've sent an e-mail to Tyler guitars in the hope that they have records of the spec of number 198.
9. Thanks guys I think the 'sleeper' tag is a good one. It's one of those basses which you have to know what it is before you freak out about it (similar to your Vigier (Ped) or your Bolin (Warwickhunt) both really amazing basses which don't scream from the rooftops). I personally think that the headstock is pretty darn cool, but do some people go on about it!! I got a mate of mine to take some photos of my guitars and basses whilst he was visiting me for a couple of days. He's going to do a little bit of tidying up on Photoshop before I get copies, but I'll post them all when I get them.
10. It's great to go into a music store and think that the bass you've got at home is better than anything that's hanging on the walls

12.
I have to agree that you'd struggle to find a better made bass than a Martin Petersen. There's been a few lovely 5 string Sei Jazzes up for sale recently and £1,400 would have bought any one of them. Definitely worth having a look for the quality of craftsmanship alone.
Blimey, spoilt for choice at £1400 Being a Sei fan, I would say that a Sei jazz is worth very careful consideration!! I might have stretched for the Sei jazz a week or so ago, but the rare-as-rocking-horse-poop Tyler bass was too much to resist.
13. I found this on the Tyler Guitars site. I was reading through everything while I was waiting for my bass to turn up !! http://www.tylerguitars.com/pages/PDF/2001...Player_5_01.pdf
14. I had a ramp fitted by Jon Shuker. He did a nice job of getting it to match with the body as well.
15. Very clever stuff
16. What a great setup !! Does this mean that you now have more time to help your bandmates in with their gear, or does it allow time for a sneaky pint.......
17. Thanks to those who have posted pics of the show. Looks like it was a good show. Music Live is on November 7-9 at the NEC. I'm going to try to get there, might even fly to Birmingham from Glasgow (how rock 'n' roll is that !).
18. Great to see the bass on it's first outing
19. Robbie makes some great basses. I'm looking forward to seeing progress
20. Somewhere here on BC, someone recommended this interview with Roger Sadowsky http://www.behindthenotes.com/index.php/Fe...menu-id-17.html In it he discusses the Metro range vs. NYC. The Metro's have a limited amount of options, but are the same fit & finish as an NYC. Surprisingly, the NYC basses are chambered to keep the weight down and they have the option of exotic wood tops. It's a great interview (about an hour) and I apologise for not name-checking the BC'er who brought the interview to everyone's attention in the first instance. bassaussie- You're a lucky guy to own 2 (!) Sadowsky NYC basses
21. That is a mighty fine bass
22. Very cool bass. Must be great having an instrument that looks original and sounds awesome.
23. I take it you had a bass epiphany then (Epifani, see.... play on words). I'll get me coat
24. Great basses and a compact rig!! You must be G.A.S. free now then
25. Blimey !! I'm sure there's a lot of players who'd love to get they're hands on a Wal like that
