1. Just saw this. More than happy to help if I can... PM me.
2. Cheers, guys. No Barry, I don't think I've gone mad !! Just think that I'd prefer a decent 5 string Just fancy a change. The wife thinks I'm mad as well, but I thitnk she's getting used to me changing gear to get the best range of stuff that I can. Hope the family's all OK. As always, you're more than welcome to come over grab a coffee and a chat I'll have the photos up tomorrow, today's been a bit hectic. Apologies to those who are waiting.
3. The drawer for the 9 needs to be a big, wide one I received an e-mail from Alan today saying that all the Ghost goodies have arrived for mine. OOOO !!
4. That F Bass just looks amazing.....
5. That's one guitar you could sniff every day !!
6. I didn't really like the bass itself but the idea of the lower fretted, higher fretless thing.
7. After a bit of discussion on another part of this forum, I've decided to put by Fender USA Urge Mk1 up for grabs or trades. I'll add photos as soon as I can!! OK, a bit about the bass first.. This is the 32" scale, 3 pickup (JPJ) version which Stu Hamm designed with the Fender Custom Shop. The alder body, maple neck and pau ferro 'board make this a bass a fantastic one to play. The P pickup is "flat-magnets on a custom '62 vintage P bass". The two J's are also custom wound with the bridge position pickup "overwound for ultra-hot sound". The electronics make this one of the most flexible bass available. A 4-position rotary controls the 4 modes: standby, passive, active and active with a mid-boost. The first of the two concentric pots is a treble cut/boost and a bass cut/boost. In passive mode, the bass cut/boost is a passive tone control. The other concentric controls the volume and the pan-between the two 'J' pickups. A three-position switch gives all pickups, the P and the two J's. Using these controls, you can have any variation of pickups either active or passive. If you want a traditional J bass, it's there. Want a passive P, it's there. Want an active monster? That's there as well. All the colours for the Urge were taken from vintage Fenders. This bass is finished in Burgundy Mist and comes with the original USA hard case. So if this bass is so special, why am I thinking of selling it... I've decided that I'd like to try and get a quality 5 string, maybe something more traditional (a J perhaps ??). If you have anything you think might fit the bill, I'd like to hear what you have. As I've found, these basses have kept their value extremely well. The Urge II is a different beast to this bass and these are fast becoming collector's items. The price for a straight sale is £950 o.n.o. including next-day delivery with the UK. If you are from outside the UK, please PM for delivery charges. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact me Cheers, Mark (7string)
8. Well I've decided to put my Urge Mk1 on the market. If you fancy a trade, or need more info, just PM me.
9. I seen the Sei Jazz's which would be perfect as I'm already a Sei fan. I've been following a thread on TB for the Mike Lull owners club. There's also a couple on the website's of a couple of stores in the States. It definately seems that the Urge Mk1's are sought after so I'll get some pics together, put it up fs/ft and see what happens...
10. I subscribe to the newsletter from Kahler trems and this months installment had a link to this: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=W-9wY57AZIs I normally don't like the looping stuff but the trem and the bass made things more interesting. It's a fretted bass to the 12th fret, then fretless the rest of the way. Just thought it was a really good idea...
11. Well it seems as if Fender Urge Mk1's are holding their value, so I might just see how much I could get for it. A Sei jazz 5 string would be the perfect replacement !!
12. Well you might get the chance to buy one if I find something I like !!
13. I can't see my bass at the back
14. Man that is an incredible looking bass. Mind you, Sei's always are Have a bump...
15. Thanks for the suggestions !! WithoutRisk_BassPlayer - I might sell the Urge if I can find some sort of replacement. Thing is, the Urge's are so easy to play and they don't make the 32" scale version anymore. I suppose the problem is that as players we can't have everything so have to think what would be most useful !! Just had a look using Google and someone's selling a Mk1 Urge for $1900. Looks like I might be able to get a classy replacement after all !!
16. I've started this thread as I'd really like some get some thoughts on a bass issue.... Over the last few months or so, I've been wanting to really concentrate on getting the basses that can stay with me long-term. I'm the very proud owner of a Sei 7 and I'm having an ACG 9 made now. Thing is, I've got a space that I want to fill... What I've been thinking of is switching my Fender Urge Mk1 for a more 'traditional' J-style 5 string....question is which one ?? I haven't decided on anything yet, but just wanted to get some opinions on what would be a good bass for the role. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated !! Cheers, Mark
17. I wanna see, I wanna see
18. What an great day. Moffat's a great wee place when the sun's out It is amazing just how many pieces have to be discussed to get a build just right. I can't draw at all, but I went through quite a few evenings altering stuff in spreadsheets. I'm sure the bass is going to turn out great !!
19. Billy Sheehan, Steve Harris. I'm going to add Marco Mendoza as well. Amazing player fretted or fretless...
20. I suppose watching lacquer dry can't be that much fun.....
21. Congrats on the new addition !!
22. Blimey, now that's a small amp Be interesting to see how this turns out....
23. 2 great basses, but I have to say I love that Bolin.....
24. Great pics of cool basses. Looks as though Molly was behaving herself !!
