1. 'Red sparkly bass' looks like it's going to be cool !! The extended tongue of the joint from neck to body is a good idea for better coupling. I've seen it done with other materials within a bolt on, or with a really deep neck pocket, but not in a set neck/glued joint. Keep those progress reports comin' !!
2. Sounds like it's going to be a really cool bass. 7 strings, in my opinion, make it even cooler !!
3. I have one of my basses with Mr Shuker at the moment. A ramp is one of the two jobs that he's going to do for me...
4. Very cool and classy looking bass !! Huge congrats are due to both luthier and owner !!

I kinda dig that Maverick. Not sure about the volume pots, but still it's very cool !!
6.
Martin Peterson is a legend. The worlds best luthier. Peace, MB
....and that's why we shop there Awesome bass, the front facings are understated and very effective. I especially like the little Sei nameplate just about the bridge, a cool touch.
7. I bought mine off of eBay for $800. Shipping from the US cost $167. This was my second after foolishly selling one years ago! They are fantastic basses. OK they're a 32" scale, but that doesn't matter, it just makes it easier to play. The electronics are superb, really flexible. If you do get hold of one, you won't be disappointed. If you need any more info, just send me a message...
8. I ordered my Sei last year. The price list on which the cost was worked out is labelled August 2005. Even with this price increase, IMHO Seis are still great value for money. There's no getting away from the fact that they aren't cheap, but the quality of the woods and of the workmanship is second to none. The attention to detail is simply stunning. If I could afford it I would buy another even at the new prices.
9. I made a stand using the directions given here http://www.instructables.com/id/EB8LB4WTJIEP286G63/ Using these measurements as a start, you can then make any size stand you need.
10. If I had to pick one it would have to be Mr.Big - bassist Billy Sheehan. Truly a great band with Eric Martin, Paul Gilbert (later Richie Kotzen) & Pat Torpey making up the other 3/4....
11.
That really is very cunning! Alex
+1 I also love the fact that the logos are chosen to match to the bass, rather than using a transfer or name plate...
12. Sorry, I didn't see anything purple lurking about... Alan and I discussed the custom prices at the moment. His philosophy is that every bass comes 'fully equipped' instead of having a base model and then options to add on top. Every ACG bass is 'top-of-the-line' already so you do get a lot of bass for your money. I'm glad you like my Sei and there's no getting away from the fact she's expensive. No Sei owner can keep price a secret as Martin gives a full, detailed pricelist on his site at www.seibass.com
13. I went to see Alan of AC Guitars on Friday. He's a great guy, has some equally great designs and some stunning wood in stock.
14. Thanks for the kind words and, yup, my Sei is named 'Jezebel' The standard of Martins' work is just mind-blowing. On the singlecut that's pictured above the rear view just tells the story. The compartment and battery covers are cut from the facings and put back in exactly the same place, giving a beautifully clean look to the instrument. (The covers on mine are actually replacements as the originals were lost in their journey back to Sei HQ by DHL, making them even more remarkable). Also, note the way the extended upper horn, neck and body are carved making this difficult area one smooth contour... When it came for me to put my money on the table and make a choice it had to be a Sei.....
15. Here's some pics of my Sei 7. This is the Sei offset flamboyant body style. The body is a walnut core, bolivar (dyed claret) veneer with a lacewood top. The thru neck is wenge and flamed maple topped with a birds eye maple 'board. Pickup is a passive custom Kent Armstrong humbucker to a volume control which is a push/pull pot for the led's on the side of the neck. The bass has a regular output, XLR and a coil tap button all on the lower edge.
16. I had the pleasure of visiting Alan yesterday afternoon and I saw that fingerboard...It really is amazing and does look like a landscape picture !! Alan's basses are just getting better and better and the quality of wood that he has to build from is fantastic.... If you're thinking of having a bass built, I highly recommend you contact Alan through the website at www.acguitars.co.uk
17. Simply one of the great bass players..
18. That's a point I hadn't though about, BB2000... I was browsing through eBay and one guy was saying that he's not using Parcelforce as they won't insure musical instruments for more than £150. I've had a look at the small print, and it only applies if you use the case as the exterior packaging. Just put the case in a padded box and you can send as per normal. I've used Parcelforce a few times with no problem at all...
19. Since when did this part of the forum get renamed from Bass Porn to Bass Tease !!
20. I'm very fortunate to have more than 1 bass as well. My Sei 7 is my current fave, but I do pick up my Fender Urge Mk1 a lot as well. I'm selling one bass and have bought another which is totally different to the Sei....
21. There's a great Yamaha fretless 6 on eBay, the sellers name looks awfully familiar I heard varied reviews on those Mazeti etc. Some very good, some very bad. I'be heard good stuff about Harley Benton bring good for the price. Have to say though, that I have no personal experience of either...
22. Wow !!! Marco is a monster player !! Screaming Blue Murder live is simply awesome as well as Heredia, Mendoza, Netto Live... Anyone who has the oppotunity to go, must go
