  1. This T-Shirt from that nice bloke at Bass the World (Gregor Fris) always tickles me. I’ve considered asking for it for Christmas.
  2. If she‘s Mrs T, does that make you Mr T? “I pity the fool who tries comin‘ ‘tween my an my Ripper!”
  3. Hi All, I want to connect my Apogge JAM, to my Mac. It's the older version with the Chirose output. According to the apogge website, I can buy Chirose to USB on Amazon in the US, but there's no sign of it on Amazon here in Germany. They only supply cables for the newer models which have a different output. I do have a chirose to lightning cable, but all the lightning to usb adapters I can see (except for the Apple for €35,- .. of course) don't do data transfer. Anyone here have experience/wisdom with this...? Cheers, Paul
  4. I‘m really interested to hear how these are. I tried similar looking ones from Amazon a while back, but they compressed the hell out of the signal, so I sent them back. These are the ones I sent back… https://amzn.eu/d/5agirYI
  5. Hi there, I know this ad is waaaaaay old, but do you still have the Mastatron? Cheers, Paul
  6. Their B-Stock gear has the same guarantee as new stuff and I‘ve never had any issues with B-Stock equipment BUT… as SamIAm says, larger packages (basses/guitars etc.) are ostensibly delivered „to corner shop“ DHL outlets. I had terrible trouble locating a bass, when DHL insisted that it was delivered to one such outlet. The shop in question was tiny and they were quite clear that they simply couldn’t (and weren’t obliged to) take delivery of anything that big.
  7. Now, some people may construe this as political.... I couldn't possibly say. It is, however, bass related.
  8. Hi Breadbin, I know this is from a good way back (April 24th, this year), but you mentioned also having "one of these". Do you happen to know if this is, indeed, an SB-303? I wasn't sure if my observation was correct. I struggle with telling all the different models of SGC nanyo apart. Many thanks again for all your help, Paul.
  9. Lads, lads, laaads, you’re all missing the point. It‘s a bass player, of course they‘re invisible.
  10. Bump for an excellent bit of kit. I love mine. Dead handy if you’re using two instruments with very different output gains.
  11. Hi All, I stumbled across this on YouTube. Regardless of people's opinions on slap bass, I just really enjoyed the warmth and genuine enthusiasm with which he addresses the players, especially the young lad who's only been playing for a few years.
  12. Hi All, a brief story of good service from Thomann. After much hemming and hawing, I finally pulled the trigger and bought an Origin Effects Cali76 Comp. Bass Compressor back in early April. Then, in mid May (37 days later and clearly outside the 30 day return period) I saw that the Origin Effects Cali76 V2 Bass Compressor had been released, with some significant improvements but the same price. I wrote to Thomann and said “I know you guys aren’t obliged to, but given the unfortunate timing, would you consider exchanging the units for me?” An hour later, I had the returns document and they gave me a credit note allowing me to purchase the new unit. Result! I am well pleased with their customer service.
  13. I don't believe in emojis, so "embarrassed face". I know what you mean - I even thought about that while writing my comment. It just "felt" less like a cut/boost in bass frequencies and more like a volume change. Which, as you pointed out, amounts to the same thing on a bass. (Walks away with hands in pockets whistling away my red face). Thanks again for your help... and your patience.
  14. Thank you to everybody for your help. Particularly Doctor J for the breakdown on how to establish which pot is which. So, it seems like this: Lower front - is the mix pot Upper front - is treble cut/boost Lower rear - is volume Upper rear - should be bass cut/boost, however it seems behave more like a second volume which doesn't quite go 100% off. Is it possible that the guy from the shop wired one or other pots to the wrong part of the central board (i.e. the blue thingy attached to a board)? Or would that then cease to function altogether?
  15. Thanks Jack 🙂 BTW, the info on what pots should be where was already a big help. Thanks.
  16. Thanks for the super-quick help Jack. The odd thing is, that the upper rear (i.e. volume) is indented and the lower rear (bass - boost/cut) isn't. Do you reckon the guy wired the two the wrong way around? Would the bass even work (i.e. make a noise) that way?
  17. Hi All, I wonder if anyone could help me. I have what I believe to be an SB 303 (4-string fretless), although I thought the 303s were all passive. I bought it on FleaBay, and the previous owner had swapped out the original electronics for a Glockenklang pre-amp. Long story short, shortly after my buying it, the battery in the Glockenklang suddenly heated up and wrecked the whole pre-amp. No matter, I still had the original Bass Collection electronics. I had a local guitar shop wire it in for me - I know nothing about wiring stuff up. With everything wide open, there is one, very usable and decent sound. However, the individual pots seem to make no sense whatsoever. The way the pots react, I can't seem to even guess at what their functions are. Could anyon tell me where I might find a wiring diagram?
  18. Just saw this on YouTube. Steel strung, so possibly resolves the intonation issues normally associated with fretted U-Basses…?
  19. The OP reminds me of Spike Milligan‘s “An Audience With…” appearance in the 80s. “Hello! I have nothing planned for this evening… so nothing can go wrong.”
  20. Hi Guys, thank you all for the advice. You’ve certainly given me plenty of good ideas to work with. I will be trying these various options in the near future. cheers, Paul
