Which is the punchline to my favourite joke of all time.
Yeah, it's one of mine too.

Happy birthday Andy! All the best. I remember a Larry King interview with Halle Berry some years ago. He asked her, her age and she admitted with some chagrin 35. His response was, "35? I've got ties older than you!"
I still think I'm 33.Unforunately I just turned 71.Weird how that works.How did I get here already?
Good morning Mr. Staggering, time for your medication! 😉

First up, I'd want to know how many dates are in the calendar. I'm 50 so chart success is no longer on the menu. Forgive a brief derailment - Blue, I loved your list of bear moves. I'm layed up after an appendectomy on Tuesday and the laughing hurt which proves I'm alive. However, you forgot one, it's that slow, sultry classic the "You're Not Here For the Hunting, Are You?"

"Wanted, bass-player who knows how to hump the invisible bear."...? 😉

Nice choice Interpol.
Hohner B2 cricket bats were always my nemesis. No so much now I am more used to them - they are just so handy to carry around as a back up so I persevered. At first, 2 octave scale plus no head meant that my subconscious mental map of note positions was all over the place. Always seemed something of a lottery which notes I would actually be playing as my hand never seemed in the right spot.
Yep, I had one of these as an easy carry-around practice bass and flogged it for just this reason. Most things I needed to practice on the road involved reading which further exacerbated the problem.
that Van Halen clip, he wasn't in the wrong key, he was in the wrong band ....and state. lol
I heard that they'd gone out on tour without a keyboard player and all the keys were on a sequencer. I don't know if there was a power failure or what, but somehow the sequencer reset itself to the wrong sample rate (i.e. 'in the cracks' tuningwise). Being as the entire intro is on keys and they were less than a semitone out of tune, no one noticed until the band kicked in, by which time it was too late. You could hardly stop the song and start again on what was probably the last encore. I can only presume that Dave Lee Roth had mostly keys in his in-ears as he seems relatively unphased. Poor old EVH's deperate efforts during the solo make my teeth itch. I feel sorry for the bloke, although I'm sure that after the gig they had a few beers and a laugh over it.......... perhaps after sacking the sequencer tech? 😉

....errrr Jack, I was joking.

Am I the only person here that thinks that MOST (albeit admittedly not all) of the people who have a gentle dig at MS are just ribbing for fun and really don't intend any offence and that some people are taking it all a WEE bit too seriously? By the way, I belong to the ribber faction although I love playing the number and the smiling faces of the punters. Sorry Barking Spiders, your post artived as I was writing mine.

I love this guy's playfulness and now, I feel, he's really outdone himself... ...plus, has this one been on here before? If so, my apologies http://youtu.be/wzAOQlbhUp0

Wow, this morning this thread was just a light-hearted giggle between two mates (and the rest of BC) about an old running-gag. Suddenly it's gone all serious. What happened?

Would you ever perform starkers like Nick Oliveri used to
Me too. When Nanyo was resurrected after they stopped trading the production moved to, I believe, Korea. I have one of these basses and 2 MIJ ones. The Korean one has a high mass bridge, both MIJ ones have BBOT. The control cavity cover on the Korean ones have the holes in a different place to the Jap ones as well. Also as Pete points out it is a 1988 serial number and MIJ. When I removed the neck of one of mine, it had "4 series" written in the neck pocket, so maybe that is the answer, assuming you are happy to detach the neck.
Ooh, I'm a bit of a wuss about removing necks and suchlike. I can do some close-ups of the bridge, nut and hardware if that would help?
