I believe that this is one of the later models - possibly a 100 - built after BC were first taken over. The bridge on this is the lower mass Fender style bridge rather than the well constructed high mass bridge fitted to the early models. The pre-amps are different too. I have two of these - a fretted and a fretless - theirs very little difference in the tone and playability of these versus the early ones bearing the SB3/4/5 model nos.
Thanks TheGreek. Forgive me being obtuse, would that make it an SB100 then? Or SB301 or SB310? I really don't get the model naming system.

Thanks for your help guys. I tried looking at Happy Jack's thread, but wasn't really any the wiser. Everyone there was already a level above me, throwing around serial numbers. My (very) uneducated guess was a 310, but I don't know what the criteria for the model numbers is, pup-combination? what woods used? which manufacturer? I've taken a closer look and the pups appear to be blank rather than the SGC logo scratched off. I could take the pups off and look at the back, I suppose. I'm just a bit of a chicken about taking stuff off and relying on my ability to get it back on. Cheers, Paul.

Hi all, can anyone help me identify this bass model please. I know it's a nanyo sgc, but what's the model number? The serial number is 883373. Unfortunately there's no model number on the rear side of the control cavity cover. I've pictured the control cavity, however, matters are further compicated because the previous owner has fitted Glockenklang electronics. Plus the knobs aren't on because the Nanyo knobs don't fit the Glockenklang pots, doh! I do have all of these seperately though, should this help clear identification. Thanks for any help, Paul.
Here's a Canadian response. In the late '70's I played a strolling gig in February at the Toronto zoo.I was playing tenor banjo as a dep in a Dixieland band that wore clown costumes so it was a pretty strange gig.It was made worse by the fact that it was -20C (really)so we decided to play a few songs outside then hustle inside to warm up before our next foray into the cold.Fingerless gloves and several layers including long johns made it a bit better but it was very cold. We tuned up inside, went outside and the leader called a song and key and wanted 4 bars on the banjo as an intro so away I went.Ithought the horn players, all very good musicians, seemed to be having a hard time getting the song rolling but it eventually worked out by the end of the song.At that point the trumpet player asked why I played the intro and the song in C# instead of C.Turns out the couple of minutes of cold air raised the tuning of the banjo a half tone, which made for a very interesting gig.As each song was played the horn players had valves freeze, pads on the sax freeze shut and the trombone froze solid in first position between songs. They had a tough time playing songs with more notes missing as the song progressed. Not a fun day but we got paid, but it was COLD.Haven't played below freezing since then and don't plan to.
We have a winner!.....I hope?
Quite the opposite, this topic can serve to help others with similar problems. I'm even thinking that 'pinning' it could be envisaged. Anything and everything goes, as long as it keeps logs trouble-free, don't you think..? Another aspect is the grim warning that this carries regarding the impetuous posting of topics without due thought beforehand. Once one's inner self is offered up for general scrutiny, it's very difficult to claw back. Putting genies back into bottles is notoriously difficult. Future posters could benefit from mature reflection before hitting the keyboard.
As my dearest friend always put it, "Never dismiss the possibility that your reason for being here is as a warning to others". -
