I saw a disco/funk band in the 80s in Liverpool. The dance floor was empty so the singer shouts out, “Come on folks let’s see you all up on the dance floor!”. So, one guy gets up and starts dancing in the middle of the dance floor, at which point the singer goes back to the mic and says, “Not like that mate, you look a c**t!” Harsh, I know, but flawless timing.

Still, he is selling it at dumping price.

Yeah, it's sometimes surprising how that is. I don't know whether it's the andrenaline or what, but after 10-15 mins of playing, injuries that have us wondering if we can make it through the gig, miraculously stop hurting. I've had monster huge blisters that I got from playing upright bass (which I don't do often) burst mid gig and within minutes become painless. Glad to hear you had a good gig.

So, how did your gig go?

I thought you might show up here 😉. It struck me as maybe being your kind of thAng. They‘re playing near me soon with the bigband ( I‘m not sure if that includes the DJs. I doubt it somehow. Pity that.). I think I shall pop along for a listen.

I did something very similar some years ago. I taped it up with elastoplast, the smooth type. However, I had maybe from Tuesday to Saturday to heal. It wasn’t my very best performance, but I got through. The superglue idea may well work. I know it‘s sometimes used in emergencies. Don‘t panic, you‘ll make it. Good luck on the weekend.

A buddy of mine experienced almost the exact opposite many years ago. It must have been in the late 70s or early 80s. He was playing with his band in a bar when, in between songs, a guy walks up to the bandstand and says, “OK guys here’s your money. At the end of this set you can pack up and go home I’ve just bought the place”. The new owner didn’t want to have live music.

What, and the invisible bear doesn‘t count? That seems so unfair. 😉

We played for a Harley Davidson event some years ago. Did I mention that we‘re a 70s disco band? Under the circumstances it went as well as could be expected. The guys stayed outside at the bar and one or two of the women even danced.
