1. Have you checked out this guy? Very helpful. http://youtu.be/kyMjUg1VybE He them explains what he's doing in tutorials. http://youtu.be/2id8ma8f5gw
 2.
I still haven't figured it out. The guitarist in the trio I'm playing with is keen that we get some backing vocals in there, so I should probably start working on it.
A word of advice, if you're going to do it, get cracking asap. I said something similar to myself about 30 years ago and never quite got around to it. I am now kicking myself.
 3.
Could have been worse Dave
Bucket!
 4.
Pretty sure, given the average age of the BC collective is closer to 60 than 20, that it was said ironically, in jest.
That was my impression too.
 5.
"Arse covering" - is that like wallpapering a buttock
Surely more like wallpapering over the crack(s)...
 6. Is she any good for metal? Well.....,,, someone was bound to.
 7.
The Country scene churns out saccharine ballads profusely but this is one of the best I have heard in years. 'hardy a dry eye in the house'...
I loved James Taylor's quote before singing a countryish ballad on his live album. "This is one of those songs that'll make you weep, make your dog weep, make your ROOF leak!"
 8. Very sad. I saw him about 25 years ago playing with Maceo, grooved like..... well, like Clyde Stubblefield. RIP.
 9.
Recently I purchased a Lakland 55-01, which has been fantastic. Obviously the stock pickups (split coils) and preamp are the 'budget' Bartolini MK-1 range, gigged the bass a few times, sounds fine, perfectly useable. However, I had the means to easily swap out the pickups for Bartolini USA Dual Coils (Elrick spec) and the NTMB preamp. Before I made the change, I recorded a number of very basic drum and bass tracks for the MK-1s, and then the proper Barts when installed. Below is a link that lets you download 200mb of wavs to have a listen for yourselves. In the main folder is wavs for each setting including the drum track. However there is also a folder labeled 'DAW', if you have Logic, Cubase or similar, you can use the Wavs in this folder (which do not include the drum track) to drag into a session. The drum track is also included as a wav in the DAW folder to drag into the session. This way you can simply mute and solo tracks within the DAW as you want, to easier hear comparisons. All EQ was set flat, so we're just comparing both pickups, neck solo'd, bridge solo, and then the same again in passive mode. It would have been too long to then start comparing EQ points etc. https://sync.focusri...vjMhIO/download Hope it's of interest. If you're wondering, I'm glad I made the change, I think the USA Barts have more character, are warmer and sound more musical. Si
Hi Si, thanks so much for this. I'm downloading it as I write. As soon as I've had a listen (bearing in mind I have 2 kids 2 and 5 yrs.) I'll give you my 5 bob's worth. Cheers, Paul
 10. Elvis Costello and the Attractions or Madness.
 11. I've got a V7. Good sound in both passive and active modes. Skinny frets. I personally prefer jumbos, but no biggy. The neck is great with a gloss finish. I prefer matt, but again that's just personal preference. They are rather on the heavy side. As someone already wrote, 9-10 lbs.
 12.
" Play something you know "
Ouch!
 13. Putting the monstrous chops aside (they are irrelevant to this thread IMO) Richard Bona is very funny and has a great rapport with the audience.
 14.
Who T F made Leo the boss of bass anyway?
Blasphemy! 😛
 15. We were once asked by the client at a gala if we knew any Turkish songs. 😳
 16.
There was a time in the 80s when there was a flurry of hyper-twee 'indie' pop made by atrocious bands like Prefab Sprout, Fairground Attraction, The Bluebells and Deacon Blue. Among the most irksome pieces of c@ck are .. Sprout's one that has the line 'hot dogs, jumping frogs, Albuquerque'. Perfect, sung by that woman who looks like a librarian Real Gone Kid..plinky keyboards, terrible girly background vocals, cheesy strings (not the kids snackfood) Young At Heart..I mean this band named themselves after a flower and the song has a bloody fiddle solo Come on Eileen ..as does this woeful karaoke singalong
I like Prefab Sprout. When Love Breaks Down is a cracking song. Still, horses for courses, eh?
 17. I loved that, thanks for posting. His vocal reminds me a bit of this... http://youtu.be/cXoaupox2IA
 18.
A few years ago I reluctantly went to see the Mikado with my wife as a friend of hers was in it. Rather unexpectedly I really enjoyed it and we go to see the annual show by the same G&S group every year now. She doesn't drag me along to the ballet though, she takes our daughters to that as they all dance. When I first met her she used to love coming to my gigs in the soul band. She wasn't so keen on the rock bands I've been in and really doesn't like my current jazz band. Perhaps I'll join a band in future that she likes again, who knows?
G&S tribute act? ....coat.
 19.
I arranged to take Mrs B out to dinner a few weeks ago. Two days before an offer of a dep came through at a major jazz festival with a very good band. I took the Mrs out. I'm no fool.
Hear the man! That's deep wisdom right there.
 20.
My wife wanted to go to a Westlife gig at the NEC. I bought 2 tickets and told her too take her mate. There was no chance I would go to that. I went to Lionel Richie though. I didn`t think I would enjoy it, but he was immense. Great bit of banter, and you could tell he is a seasoned professional
Plua a killer bassplayer in Ethan Farmer.
