1. Probe records, god I haven't thought about that place in years. Pete Burns was a well exotic figure back then. A sad loss, RIP.
 2.
Time to revive this thread with a gem from our keyboard player. ...'There's no music during the chorus, just the bass and drums' .
Burn him!
 3. Very cool. Loads of fun and they've nailed the sound. Where did you see them?
 4.
I wouldn't have thought an inch would make much difference.
Ooo-err! Well......,,,somebody had to.
 5. I have 2. A 1976 Jazz ( different pick-ups, ugly-dodgy varnishing from a previous owner etc. etc.). Not by any means a looker, but I love the sound. The other is an original prototype of SKCs Bogart bass. It has a humbucker on the back and a jazz pup at the neck. Before they went all graphite, they had wooden, jazz bass bodies with carbon fibre necks and that's what mine is. A warm, fat sustain that goes on for days without losing thickness, yum yum. I got it in 1990 and showed up last year at "The Holy Grail of Guitars" event in Berlin. When Stefan from SKC saw it, his eyes nearly popped out. We hadn't seen each other in over 20 years.
 6. Really locked in with the drummer is when I feel best, just lost in the moment. On very rare occasions, these are the best, it feels like I disappear altogether.
 7.
I used to know Mark fairly well - it's a shame he struggled with live performance (see what I did there TT aficionados) and more or less stopped recording new material as well
It's interesting that you say that. He always looked a little that way, but I remember being unsure if it was that or just a really cool way of being slightly aloof. Not in a snotty way, just in a really 'into it' sort of way.
 8. Despite claiming it in the text, on the picture it doesn't have 24 frets. Not that I'd particularly want that on a Jazz anyway.
 9. I saw Madness last night at the Tempodrom in Berlin. They were everything I had hoped for, brilliant. Loads of the old hits plus 4 or 5 from their new Album. One bizzare feature was when Suggs and co. left the stage to allow Chrissy Boy to sing a bit of Highway to Hell to a backing track It looked very much as if they needed a filler while someone got changed or had a pee or something... but, hey-ho, it was a top night, all round.
 10. I'd say that my playing is quite simple and solid. Not the most inspiring, but with good time and groove. I try to make it sound as if the 'main notes' are being played by the bass-drum.
 11.
'Like a French kiss from a horse..'
I hate using text-message-speak, but I'm sitting on public transport and that did, quite literally, make me laugh out loud.
 12. I wouldn't worry about the sponge retaining water. It will probably dry quicker than the other materials. Depending how big the zip is, you can probably turn the bag (even if only partially) inside out. This should speed up the drying time.
 13. Very cool. Well done you and all the others.
 14. Wow. I've watched several of his vids, but these are new to me. He seems to have upped his game even further. Thanks for posting.
 15. Under the circumstances, I would have gone for it. Most punters won't notice small mistakes and they'd be chuffed that you tried to accomodate them.
 16. In the early 80s, we used to get booked regularly at a really dodgy pub on the East Lancs road in Liverpool. To this day I'm convinced that the manager hated us and only booked us back to watch us squirm in fear once again. There were forever fights breaking out. On one occasion, the classic dodgy geezer was standing one foot in front of our singer/guitar-player's mic stand (a classic place for the singer to receive a mic in the teeth if he's unlucky) just staring him down. After a few minutes, the singer just whips the headstock of his telecaster around whacking the bloke in the temple. He went down like a sack of spuds and was carried out swearing he'd be back. After that we declined further bookings for fear of reprisals.
 17.
I played the Cat and Mutton in Hackney one time. It was a gentle Sunday lunchtime covers thing. The whole place was fighting at one point and it all kicked off because of two guys elbowing each other at the bar. Best ever was turning up at a pub (I'm not saying where), carrying the drums in, we kicked open the door into the room where we were playing, only to witness a full on lesbian live sex show happening in front of a handful drunk skinheads! Happy days.
I've heard of fights breaking out in pubs, but lesbian sex breaking out is something of a rarity... in my experience.
 18.
I have a lovely Maruszczyk Elwood 5 string jazz bass, it is superb, but im longing for a Lakland 55-02 Deluxe that i have seen.. what is wrong with me.!!? Why is the grass always greener on the other side.?
I'm curious, what's the difference between the regular 55-02 and the deluxe?
 19.
My favourite weird pub gig was when I roadied for an evening for a friend. First half went ok but at at the break we heard sounds of shouting, then a scuffle and then glass breaking from the small patio / smoking area. The landlord had apparently picked a fight with a couple of locals. He then turned all the power off and then told the entire pub to F-off and barred everyone present from ever drinking there again saying he'd remember all their faces (this included me and the band). One of his bar staff got the power back on as the punters drifted out and told us we'd get paid but should scarper quickly. The landlord then had another fit of shouting and threw himself out of the pub shouting that he wouldn't let himself back in again He headed off to the car park right next to the police station and attacked a copper who promptly locked him up for the night. The pub was not only opposite the police station but also the magistrates' court. Needless to say he lost his licence pretty soon after. . .
How very excellent a story. I'm actually a little jealous.
 20.
I thought being guitarded is having a guitar but unable to play it or being great on Guitar Hero but clueless when presented with a real guitar. I think when peeps talk about too many guitars that INCLUDES basses. They are a type of guitar after all.
Run for your lives! He's mad, quite maaaaaaad!
 21.
I'm very disappointed to note that none of the above replies supply the essential information:

Height of bass player
Weight of bass player
Approx. state of fitness of bass player
Degree of intimidation associated with bass player

I'm very disappointed to note that in your list of criteria there is no mention as to whether said bass-player is considered to be any good for metal.
 22.
https://www.youtube.com/shared?ci=y24XI40p8dc Keith Richards smacks unwanted guests with a telecaster
Fortunately for him, his tuning is often so iffy anyway that it wouldn't be an issue. I must say, I like his style there though.
 23.
You just need one of these.... and maybe a mains plug adaptor.
Want one!
