1. Looks like it's been left in the sun too long.
 2. That's all very well chaps, but the big question is............what does it sound like for metal?
 3.
Thanks! Is this actually you, SICbass?
Oh, if only. Sadly no. 😳😊
 4.
He reminds me of my bass teacher. I wish we could have seen his face at some point. :-)
5. Congratulations on taking those brave steps. Wishing you good luck and the energy you need with your struggle.
 6. Bump for a cool bass and an interesting write up.
 7. I saw them supporting David Bowie at the Milton Keynes Bowl in 198..? during his Serious Moonlight Tour. They were ace, as were The Beat.
 8.
Live bass for free ? Possibly....seems a /very/ long-winded way of doing it tho, but I guess some might be that devious.
Lets hope I'm wrong. It would make me feel better about people 😀
 9.
I had an interesting 'audition' recently...I don't know if this is odd or not, maybe it's not. Saw an ad on Gumtree, got in contact and was asked to record a bass part to a tune the recruiter had on Soundcloud. The outfit (although I suspect it was one person) was a very 'electronica', minimal kind of thing and the tune already had a synth bassline on it. So, I did what I thought was needed - kept it on the back burner during the verse and did something counterpoint-ish on the more up-tempo verse parts. Two days later I get a reply saying I'm not what they're looking for... Far enough, but I can't help feeling I didn't get a decent hearing...certainty not the way I'd run things.
a.) a bit off treatment there I think b.) someone getting live bass recorded for free?
 10.
We once auditioned a vocalist who turned up with an acoustic guitar, we asked if he intended playing it, and he replied, "no, I can't play guitar, I just like to have it with me all the time", and just stood it in the corner of the room. Just before we started, he asked if he could go to the reception for some food and drink as he had come straight from work, he came back to the room with two rounds of sandwiches, crisps, chocolate bars, and two cans of drink. He couldn't sing either, so he didn't get the job, but when we went to pay for the room, we found out that he had put his food and drink on the tab, so we had to pay an extra £9.50
Sounds like a win-win deal to me. He gets a free lunch and you get an ace story to tell. I'd say that tale is worth £9.50 of anyone's money 😉
 11. Yep, there he is again. Using every inch of the instrument and just when you think he's done, he opens the door to another 5 rooms worth of sh#t. God I love his playing. Thanks for posting.
 12.
There is a big issue with couriers and lack of insurance though. I don't think any will insure a bass in transit, although I'd love to be proved wrong.
Hi Myke, fyi, I shipped a bass last week from Germany to the Czech Republic using dpd (deutsche paket dienst) who, I believe, also operate in the UK. They upped their automatic insurance value from €520,- up to €1000,- for an additional charge of €11,- and they knew it was a bass. Cheers Paul
 13.
once on holiday, I saw a fat Karen Carpenter tribute
Ouch!
 14. I saw these live a couple of years back (the tickets were for free and I thought it would be a laugh...it was fun...anyway) and Simon LeBon was about 2 stone heavier with a full on beard. He looked like Oliver Reed.
 15.
And this...
I've long been a fan of Tom Lehrer, so thanks for that reminder, but the Rubberbandits are fantastic. Dead funny, really ace production with just the right amount of attitude. Thanks for posting.
 16. Hey there, look forward to hearing some samples of the duo.
 17. Really nice man, got me from bar 1. Ace tune, nice groove. Thanks for posting.
 18.
Completely forgot about these chaps. I caught the end of their set at Camp Bestival a couple of years ago and have been trying to see (and book) them ever since. They're on tour soon, but unfortunately I have a gig on the night they're in Bristol. Steampunk-Victorian-punk-thrash-comedy: These blokes do it all.... http://youtu.be/21QqXumEWFU
Absolutely superb. I've never heard of them. I just laughed my head off. Thanks so much for that.
 19. Ooh shocker! That's how rumours start.
 20. Hello there and welcome. I always wanted to do a "dead" tribute and call it the Dreadful Great (or Grate)... but Ungrateful Dad tops that. Well done
