Nice looking IMHO but overpriced Wishbass
SICbass replied to Annoying Twit's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Forgive my ignorance, but, based on your comments, these basses ain't too hot then? Shame, 'cos it looks pretty cool. What problems do they generally have? -
We always used to lowball the first guy we saw, say offering a tenner. If he replied they`re going for twenty we`d just move on. Usually he`d say "well everyones selling them for twenty" we`d reply fine, we`ll give the next guy twenty, but not you. Usually they`d then take the tenner. Some didn`t, but most of the time it worked.
Judging by the prices you mention, this would have been in the late 70s, early 80s then? :-) -

What a top chap. "Simple" gestures like that can be so life affirming. Hope you're feeling better now. Thanks for posting.
I had a thunder llla during the mid eighties. My memory of it is that I toured twice with it over a Stingray. It was a great bass, well made, flexible pre amp. However, like my hair at the time, it didn't balance too well.
What a whopping mullet! 😉 Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for that, only being as I ticked almost all boxes (i.e. no pic, mainland Europe and recently making the mistake of deleting a sale advert title) and not sure what constitutes enough posts, I was a bit insecure.
If they haven't bothered to post a profile picture and/or post count is zero, I close the ad immediately. There is a certain amount of trust extended to regular BC members but none at all to these fly-by-nights
On this very point, speaking as a "fly-by-night" BCer "based in mainland Europe"I have tried on numerous occasions to put a photo in my profile and, after the little wheel turning for about a minute, receive the notification "failed to set a new photo". It strikes me as unfair to be treated with mistrust because of a technical problem. Out of innocence/ignorance I have, unwittingly and having seen this practice in the forum before, made the mistake of erasing the title of a post. Dad quickly and without any finger-wagging informed me of my mistake and there won't be a repeat of that error on my part.

I enjoyed that and liked the playing in all departments but particularly the bass playing. Thanks for posting 👌
Had a few nice guestures like that on here , and I've tried to pay them forward
I did give a Dean Markley bass-amp that I was no longer using to an ex-student of mine recently. Does that count?

Stunningly beautiful. Thanks for posting.

Down the cheaper end of the market, I tried a squier vm jazz 5 that was too chunky for my tastes. Not a bad neck just too meaty for me. Perhaps the vm precision 5 even more so? I'm sure someone here will be able to tell you.
Lovely. Restores your faith in human nature, doesn't it? Now it's your job to pass it forward...
Fair point, I will do so at the first opportunity

Hi All, just a quick story that restores my faith in human nature. I have a bass on sale, both here and on Ebay small ads. 2 of the knobs (not the pots themselves) were missing. The bass is from the 80s and the manufacturer no longer make identical replacement ones. So, out of the blue, a bloke gets in touch telling me he has a couple lying in his spare parts box and would I like to have them for the cost of postage. As if that's not nice enough, when I sent him my address and asked where I should send the money to (my intention was to have added a few quid to the amount, just for his trouble like), he replied that he was only joking about the postage costs and I could have them for free. The knobs arrived yesterday and are perfect. What a top chap. Such examples of kindness really makes life feel better I think. So, have a good one guys

Just sayin'

I love the fact that, in addition to it "Being hand built with lots of the steampunk gadgets gives it some nice weight nothing light and cheap here.", it comes with a wooden case. Not for the faint hearted then.
