1. She hates my mama, she hates my daddy too She loves to tell me how much she hates the things I do (Lyle Lovett)
2. Welcome aboard Dan. Is that the Epi in your avatar? I'm not normally a fan, but that looks kinda cool.
3.
Nice, have you got matching outfits to go with each. A 5 stringer...that's what I need
"Nurse! This man seems to suffering from chronic GAS."
4. BuuuUUMP!
5.
I've tried lots of different basses over the last couple of years, some fantastic, some not so fantastic. I'm back to my USA Fender P Bass now, because it's very simple, it sounds great, it plays really well and it's just about the only bass that doesn't get in the way of my playing, or even my thinking about my playing - it doesn't make me wonder if there's something better out there I should be playing and it's good for ANY kind of music or genre. And for me that's the best bass there is.
And a Marathon? 😜
6.
Haven't bothered much with kc, as they were a bit before my time. Will have to get round to it. Does tony levin still do solo gigs?
What, is he reforming The Sunshine Band? "That's the way a-ha, a-ha, I.... (Pardon?)... I'll get me coat.
7. Seriously though, I hate photo sessions too. I'm not nervous, just deeply disintetested. Either I look miserable or like a grinning goon.
8.
A photoshoot when I was younger and fitter, just keep this image in your head and you'll be smiling all day!!
Thanks for sharing that. True self sacrifice for the cause 😉
9. This Paul Simon song features Tony Levin on bass and I think the harmonica solo is Toots Thielemann. I love the transition to the bridge/chorus bit "Then the night turned cold..." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U078jX6Z6fo
10. A superb lyric, and what a voice? I've never even heard of him before. Thanks so much for that. I'm definitely going to check him out now.
11. Dunno. As far as I could see, mine was the first. Did you forget to press "Post", maybe?
12.
(Not pictured: Epiphone/Warmoth build aka "Warbird", 2 acoustic guitars)
I love the crystal radio in amongst the vintage amps, nice touch. Also the self-restraint, one of everything you need. And all absolute beauties. Hats off, Sir.
13. Lovely.
14. The most common one would be the Squier VM jazz fretless. There's loads of them kicking about between 150-200 quid. Here's the Thomann link: http://www.thomann.de/gb/fender_sq_vm_jazz_bass_fretless.htm
15. Sorry guys, I only cottoned on to this thread yesterday.
16.
Paloma Faith has a sister called Tugonma Lipth.
I actually cried with laughter when I read this.
17. Hi Guys, sorry, please excuse my lack of replies to your messages. There hasn't been much interest for a while, so I haven't been checking the thread. @zawinul, I'll get the measurements to you asap, but it may take till Sunday. @paulmacnamara, yes I might be open for trades. I don't really have anything specific in mind, just try me. @ anyone interested, it's always best to PM me. Then I get a notification of your message. Once again, sorry for the tardy reply. Cheers, Paul
18. Oh you naughty, naughty man, just when I promised myself no more GAS...
19. Since when did needing have anything to do with it?
20. Hi Lukas, welcome to Basschat. I played the Grand Café in Lausanne eons ago. Do they still have live music there now? All the best Paul
21. Judging by the amount of interest so far, no
22. Hello All, I have a 1988 Hohner B2 (that's the passive one) that I want to move on. I bought it secondhand in a shop in 1991 and have only ever used it as a travel/practice bass. Everything is in good working order. The paint is in very good nick, apart from 2 small chips on the bottom (see pics) and some ware on the lacquer on the strap-buttons and on the ball-end holder where the headstock isn't (if you know what I mean ) (also see pics). It comes with a Hohner soft case with 2 holes corresponding to the ware on the strap-buttons. 2 of the knobs are missing (just the knobs, not the pots themselves) but I can get replacements which are very similar but not quite identical, 'cos Hohner don't make them anymore. I'm after 180 quid, but am also open to trade offers. Cheers, Paul
23. Please ignore this post, you wanted suggestions of NON-tonal percussion. I re-read you post and recognised my mistake 😳
24. It's all very well, but where do you stand your pint, eh? Tell me that.
