NBD (again) soon - the saga continues
SICbass replied to Jean-Luc Pickguard's topic in General Discussion
I honestly believe that the only sensible thing to do now would be to have yourself cloned, have your clone leave the house and go to the shop to buy chocolate biscuits while the real you cunningly sit in wait for the UPS driver to try and post his evil card. -
I’m curious, I looked at the beginning of your thread and the bit about pick up positioning. Did you find the positioning on the OLP good or was there room for improvement? And, while I’m on the subject , do all OLPs have the same positioning or does it vary?
-
Just in case you don’t already know, OLP stands for original licensed product. Ernie Ball licensed Hanser Holdings International to build MM copies. The OLP line turned out to be very good indeed for the price.

What Quatschmacher doesn’t know about this stuff ain’t worth knowing. I keep telling him to offer bespoke patches online for a fee.

Alternatively an OLP with upgraded pup and active pre-amp? Like this one for example: Cheap as chips and I’ve loved the ones I tried out.

I played in a band many years ago who did a lot of show with a lot of energy. On a rare occasion where we failed to get an audience to react as we hoped, one of the lads commented saying, “What do we have to do, set fire to our heads?” From that day forth, the cry onstage if we had a difficult audience was, “Brrrrrring the petrol!”

Suffice as to say that a wide bore is not for the faint hearted.

I love that colour. The headsrock reminds me a bit of my Sire.

“Guaranteed to leave no stern untoned.”

Can we agree on the term “chair” - things may otherwise become confusing and potentially very messy indeed.

15 Hz and under around 105 -dB – instant brown note.

My upcoming Newcastle Arena gigs... a kind-of diary thread

Aaaaah, back in the days when we were allowed to stand next to each other. That looks like loads of fun. -
Address including postcode? Asking for a friend.

In all likelihood, yes. Best not.

Absolutely love this song and his whole concept

Real-world gigging experiences post-COVID - how is it for you?
SICbass replied to wateroftyne's topic in General Discussion
I am completely reliant on the income. Last week we played four shows in Norway. It was nice to play again and the audience were very appreciative, but the promoter took a serious hit-audience figures between 20 and 60. At the moment I’m trying to work on a new source of income. It has been very difficult to do this with the kids at home. Here in Germany they go back to school in the second week of August. Let’s see what happens then… Theoretically some playing work should start for me again in mid October, but, for reasons obvious, I’m sceptical as to whether that will happen. -
Or Jennifer Batten?

Wrong thread 😉

I‘m in. Weight please? .....hat. On a side note, many breweries in Germany with this kind of bottle top, now use plastic ones where the “rubber“ ring is a single piece of plastic fused to the top “nipple”. Thus making it impossible to do the old Grolsch trick.

At the moment I’m in Norway. We are in the middle of a four show run doing top 40 stuff in a beer tent in a camping park. The original brief was to keep it loungy/low-key so as not to encourage dancing. The audience is tiny (maybe 20 people) - they’re really into it but remain seated. Due to a very low infection rate, Norway doesn’t ask people to wear masks. A bit unnerving really but it is great to play again. -
That’s more like it.

Absolutely ace… Oh God, not another YouTube rabbit hole for me to disappear down! Seriously though, thanks for posting. Great stuff.
