4.
Hi - rather than start a new thread, I find myself in a similar situation. Recently returned to bass after 20 years or so, to help out a band -I was previously guitarist - rhythm and lead I am happy to go up to £300 for a used combo Stuff I play is Rock covers - eagles through to Red hot chilli peppers and metallica I use an Ibanez active SX590 bass Will be the bass player in a 6 piece band - 2 guitars, 2 girlie singers and a loud drummer.. Pub gigs - medium to large Reasonable Bose PA Currently using a Peavey - TNT 100 basic but loud but also limited - and way too heavy for an old man like me to lug around.... I put the bass through my Boss ME 50 guitar fx so I can get some chorus, tuning, reverb and wah..... not ideal I know ;-) I am tracking the following on gumtree and ebay etc: Trace 715 or 7215 or 7210 - 300w - each about 10 + years old or more Trace GP11 and 15" Cab - very aged Line 6 LD300 Pro - 3 years old - been warned away from these but others seem to love them?? Roland CB 100 - new. Maybe too lightweight or something better that I haven't considered?? Please save me - I'm going snowblind!!!! Many thanks Kol
go for the trace 7215 or 7210.i had the 7215 and it was loud enough for medium sized gigs with loads to spare.great combos imo.

 8.
Lightweight amplifiers that look like a wasp on crack and sound like charlotte church trying to breathe through a binliner
9.
But i think theyve just been given a bad name.
mainly by people on this site
 10. The ashdown fan club is growing : Will say that the abm cabs i have had are ok for an old school sound. If you dont want that then you obviously buy something else not say that they are wooly muddy etc and buy one!would like to try my abm head with another cab but just aint got round to it.Allthough it would probably be one of their neo cabs.
 11.
It wasn't just the Superfly heads that went kaputt. My local music shop stopped stocking Ashdown stuff (mainly the MAG stuff) because he got so many returns. He switched to Hartke gear and didn't get one broken amp or cab back I do think the lapse in QC was limited to a brief time period though, however a reputation like that does stick.
The lapse in qc was probably when they first shipped manafacture to the prc
 12. we have been here before is it only ashdown that break down?No i dont think so.i have had my 500w abm 11 head for 18 months gigging nearly every week without it missing a beat.perhaps ive just been lucky then.with the amount of gear that ashdown sell you are bound to get a few that go wrong. As phatbass posted earlier alot of top bands use them,if they were crap you would not see them at festivals etc.probably not quite the best money can buy but still in the premier league imo.
 13.
Am I missing something here? why hasn't this bass been sold?
had some offers/trades but its still here!
 14.
Who slapped John? How did I forget Gene Vincent?
he made some of the best songs of the 50's imo, bluejean bop, pretty baby, well i knocked etc.Ahead of his time and as we all know influenced the beatles.
 15. if i could only sell my jazz bass i would snap this up
