Price Drop to £300. This bass is very good, but I need the money so it has to go asap. For sale is my2000/ 2001 MIM Fender Jazz 5 string in the strikingly beautiful and (sadly) discontinued Agave Blue finish. This is the original run of the MIM Jazz 5-ers which are quite cool and have a few distinct design differences from the current version which I think make this bass special. They are: Headstock is a streamlined 5-in line headstock vs. the 4+1 featured in the current model. A long straight "three in the tree" string tree for the A-G strings vs the standard two string tree on the newer versions. The finishes on the old run were more varied. This one is agave blue. Current models only come in Sunburst and Black The bass itself is a wonderful player and in really great condition. Good balance and not that much heavier than a standard Jazz 4 if at all. The neck feels good and fender really got it right on the string spacing. Does not feel cramped. sake of being very thorough here is a description of each one... I would give total condition a 9/10 or better. Looking for £300 ono Come with Gig bag and strap. Pick up in Durham only Gee
any trades or just dosh
For sale is my Yamaha RBX JM2 in Plum Pearl Metallic Its for sale because it isnt getting the use it deserves and i have a bass to pay for (including a train ticket to cardiff!) so its time to move it on. I bought it brand new 2 years back and its gotten sporadic use since. Currently set up with medium low action and as result is really easy to navigate around, despite the 6 strings. I'm more than happy for people to come and try it out for themselves! It has a few sctraches/scrapes as a result of being gigged heavily 6 months or so back (it was my main gig bass for a while). One scrape is next to the stacked treble/bass control, one is on the upper curve of the body, a small nick on the headstock and a small dent on the back of the body. Said damage is only cosmetic and doesnt affect the basses playability in any way. detailed pictures will be uploaded shortly Specs are as follows: 6 string tuned B-C (currently strung with Warwick Black label strings 130-20) Body: Alder Neck: Maple Finish: Plum Pearl Metallic Preamp: Yamaha Controls: Master Volume, Mid, Stacked treble/bass Pickup: Seymour Duncan SMB6A String spacing: 17mm Scale Length: 34" I'm after £400 for it. cash only please, no trades. Collection is preferred but i will ship to UK buyers Also, i'm located in yorkshire (Bradford) but am willing to travel (within reason, i.e. manchester/liverpool). I can also arrange delivery in Manchester (where i go to uni, I'll be back over there next week mon-thurs and then the week after for semester) or in Stockport, where my Father works Cheers! Not much help to you but a bump is a bump.
Well... some of you may know my love of OLP MM2 (stingray clone) basses. By themselves they're just ok, but with a good pickup and a decent preamp... they're fantastic. They are. Recently I bought a MM Stingray, a 2002 2EQ model. beautiful. It didn't stop me loving my main OLP. I liked both. They're different. My OLP is more like a 3EQ, while the Stingray now has a JE preamp, so it has the character of the 2EQ, but I get the possibility of altering the mids if Iwant to. Different. Both great. I have tried numerous Stingrays before, and they were ok. Brilliant even, some of them. But not enough to make me feel my OLP was not quite right. I even joked my new Stingray would be the backup of my OLP! Well. Today... Today things changed. Today I used the Stingray at a proper rehearsal. At last. Been leaving it at home too long, what with changing preamp etc. No home-friendly volume anymore. Same place where I've played my OLP a million times, same room, same amp, same everything. And the Stingray felt BIGGER, powerful, really tight lows, punchy. Just like the OLP, in fact No, just kidding... the OLP sounds great, but the Stingray sounded... clearly better. It just had a definition and body that I haven't obtained from my OLP before. My bandmates agreed. Interestingly, I didn't touch the mid control, so I was playing it purely as a 2EQ (although I do feel the John East preamp produced tighter lows than the original). So it turns out that whilst at moderate volumes there isn't too much difference... once you turn up the volume, the Stingray comes ahead and wins the race easily. I'm upset. I loved being able to prefer the cheaper version, purely on playability and sound alone. But it turns out I'm going to end up putting the Stingray on top just like all those snobs out there I still love the OLPs... But the Stingray really is something else. So there, I said it. A MM Stingray is better after all than a souped up OLP. (but OLPs are still great!!!) EDIT: For Saturday's gig I will use the Stingray now. I suspect it's going to be my main bass from now on.
The big question is 6 x the money ,6 x as good????????????
was thinking of getting an EMG, but they do a passive one what is the seymour duncan MM one like??
I would avoid the EMG like the the plague, Every EMG bass pickup or EQ I have tried has been very disappointing. I use the seymore basslines stingray replacements and they are great
When I got it the strings were hanging off the board hence the bridge change, it's now as it should be for the spacing, yes the poles don't line up but it does not affect the balnce of sound in any way.
The bridge is all adjustable so if you wanted to line the poles up you could but I found that the strings were to close to the edge of the board on the high end and I wanted a closer string spacing

A true head turner, It is stunning, A siggery custom made Jazz 5 blue quilt top with a birdseye maple neck and finger board. Armed with a basslines stingray 5 pickup at the back and a basslines front jazz bar, With the aguilar obp3 3 band Eq. 2 volumes separate mid and sacked bass and treble, and a mid boost toggle switch, and a Wilkinson bridge. When I ordered it this is the spec I requested, but the pieze and the eq were complete rubbish so they had to go. It is simply the best of all worlds, if you want a stingray sound there you go and if you want a jazz bass sound it's all there. I only fitted the Eq last week and what a difference it's made. I have since realized that the boutique basses just ain't for me. It is far better than the sadowsky I used to own, and plays nicer than my deluxe 5 jazz I once owned and I can only describe as sadowsky meets a GB spitfire 5. RENT PRICE DROP TO £625 I am also looking for a fender jazz 4 neck preferably 70's Any questions please ask or call on 07956 964156. Remember don't ask don't get!!!!! EBS valve drive preamp pedal, Ideal if your sick of using someone else's backline. Wide range of tones from a bit of eq through to full out overdrive. still in box, with power supply although this Is a 2 prong plug, I just use a 2 pin adaptor which is fine. £120 is what I'm aiming, for only 6 weeks old in excellent condition.
I'm really digging those mods and as you can see in my signiture my TRB5 fretless is half way there. Could I ask about the pickups though? Which Nordstrands are they and were they easy to fit? Sorry this isn't buying related but i would really appreciate that info.
They were in it when I got them so not sure what model number the pickups are and it's all easy if your good at soldering, no real biggy. get some there the best out there.
