  1. That one is but mine is not.
  2. Cheers. I will reserve judgement until the actual bass arrives
  3. Haha. Apologies if my thread about p basses pushed you over the cliff to such a dramatic action.
  4. I know what you are saying Billy and usually i would be following the route you have suggested. However. This is not going to be a main gigging bass for me any time soon. i am buying it as an experiment. I also really enjoy modding basses and i have a week off. its a bit of a project and that has its merit. The upgrades have cost me less than £40 thus far so i am not breaking the bank.
  5. Cheers for that teamcoy. I have always been interested in Nordstrands. You are right the colours are similar. I think the picture of the Westfield looks like Candy Cola finish.
  6. Ok mistake number 1) I ordered 2 a side machine heads instead of 4 a side. oh dear.
  7. Cool i will check out the SDs
  8. http://www.stagebeat.com/Westfield-B1000-Bass-Guitar-Metallic-Red-015411-144048 this is the bass i have ordered. I have started a build diary with my plans. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/201248-i-dont-like-p-basses-p-bass-customisation-thread/
  9. Some of you may have seen my thread about being drawn to P basses even though i used to dislike them. This will never be my main bass but it should be a bit of fun. I have ordered a Westfield P bass in a fetching metallic red http://www.stagebeat.com/Westfield-B1000-Bass-Guitar-Metallic-Red-015411-144048 I am planning a few customisations from mainly an aesthetic point of view. I have ordered: -Black bridge -Black machine heads. -Black stick on blocks ala Geddys Jazz. -Black control knobs. I am planning to order: an all black scratch plate. It comes with a B/W/B and i want to wait to see how it looks. A Wizard pickup. In the long run i like the idea of fitting a jazz neck but that will be further down the line. I would also like a matching headstock in red. I want a classic p bass sound any other pickup recommendations?
  10. Well i have pulled the trigger on a Westfield P bass in Metallic red. I am going to order some new hardware for it.
  11. I can get a Precision sound from my ACGs fairly easily. My ACGs will always be my go to basses but i think its the simplicity of the the p bass I am drawn to. I have had a search about and i was surprised you cant get a lefty squier p bass. You can get one with a Jazz pickup at the bridge nut i don't want that. I think i am going to take a punt on one of those kits.
  12. I will check the videos out when I get back from work. I might check out the squier basses as suggested.
  13. I think it's the sheer simplicity compared to my other basses. What's next? I will start liking sunburst soon then I really will be puzzled.
  14. No disrespect to p bass lovers meant by the way.
  15. Haha. I really don't like the way they look, or the chunky necks or the number of frets, or the headstock or even the way they sound most of the time. Yet I am having to fight not to order one. I am agog.
  16. So as you can see from my gear list I am not into classic basses. Over the last few months I have become drawn to the sound of flat wounds. What's more I am now gassing for a P bass! What has happened to me! I used to hate them. I am thinking about buying a DIY kit from eBay as it would give me a challenge. Anyone tried these kits before?
  17. I have been using one of these live for years and it is an awesome reliable and loud amp.
  18. I like the TC electronics Flashback delay. It has all the delay sounds i could ever need.
  19. I am going to learn an exercise from Bass aerobics each week.
  20. I have been the last 2 years and am going again this year. Its a great laugh and there is some great basses. Not just ACGs but all sorts.
  21. http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=Qsv2cApSGLA&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DQsv2cApSGLA Taken by the tide.
  22. Low end jazz do seven string jazzes. Not cheap tho. I'm with Eude. Contact Alan at ACG he made my 7 string and it's awesome.
  23. Is it a Amboyna top? It looks different from my ACG http://www.acguitars.co.uk/Gallery/122/ Looks more like burl poplar but I am far from an expert. Either way it's a real looker.
  24. I have a 7 string version. I really like it. The finish wasn't great so I'm in the process of refinishing mine. The balance isn't great and it's pretty heavy.
