1. the cheek... have a go on a $$, then call fraud!
2. I do, but "my" sound varies daily I dont think i've kept an EQ setting for longer than a week
3. thought it said preston for a minute! it was not to be not that i want it
4. I've never really been worried if a drummer speeds up or not, I just pay as much attention to what he's doing as possible and move with him. Either that or give him some headphones and a click track
5. but then the pup is the wrong way round! Plus when I've got my current crop of basses it seems a waste not to use them!
6.
Can't you turn off the j pickup in the P/J? Not to get too deep into it, thats the sound i like to use the most and can get it with either my squier P or my Yam 375 through behringer head. (The point is that they're both cheap basses through a cheap head) I'm not the most audiophilic on BC, but when someone says "the P sound" then *that's* the sound that I imagine. nothing special, just a good solid tone. /edit My yam is a 2 humbucker jobbie. Pan knob turned to about 70% neck, 30% bridge. flat EQ on the bass, high-mids dropped a tad on the amp
hmm interesting, may give it a crack. Only reason I said I couldnt use the yammie is that its the wrong way round for me
7.
*****Posted Today, 07:22 PM I go by the rule that whatever wattage the guitarist is, you need to at least treble it. If only just to put him in his place ******* They complain no matter what you do. I normally use a Hartke HA3500 (350W), and they moan I am too loud. I used my old valve Fender Bassman 100 at rehearsal a few days ago, and apparently, I was too loud....... I am up against a Marshall 60W and an Orange 120.
sigh. Just can't please some people, especially guitarists!
8.
Me?
no, no, ARGH! You replied too quick so now it doesnt make sense I'll go back and link his original post to ease reading
9.
No but build quality and tone can be..... Cheap basses are great in the bedroom, get them cranked and they sound horrid....and they break, bad pots, bad jacks, bad fretwork, bad necks...bad nut,bad bad bad BAD!! Things have got better in recent years with far eastern made instruments!
true true, I just like disagreeing with you, you bring out the most colourful arguments!
10. a right handed one, yep. Plus an ibby p/j. Not gonna get it outta those, thats for sure Strings are dead too, its like playing strips of sponge.
11. agreed, I wouldn't be able to write so much on one set of strings Thanks man
12. tell you what IS lightweight, portable and loud, my tech cab
13. hmm, was wondering how to get that out of humbuckers (not gonna get it in the ray, but maybe the $$) neck pup single coil tap?
14. hum. interesting! Think this might be gone already though from what I hear so might be a bit academic
15. mmm was thinking that, thinking of replacing my 2x10 with two 2x12s (i've mentioned that somewhere else i think!) Only issue would be finding another one of these somewhere as I don't like the idea of mixing cabs of differing manufacturers
16. oh god I know, think they were acting out the story in the song or something. Its pretty ridiculous to be perfectly honest!
17. i dont understand how this thread started *edit* Wait, got it, ignore me
18. no, museum visting cricket is awesome
19. the bass merchant used to have info on them but they're not for sale on there anymore for some reason
20. and better quality control and handmade instead of the more mass produced techniques they use now i believe (could be wrong but thats my understanding) and dont have a go at warwick neck, my $$ has one of the slimmest and fasted necks I've ever had the pleasure of laying my hands on
