    not really budget, but in second hand terms my $$ has taken precedence over thousand pound plus instruments so its a bloody decent second/third bass or for a first foray into more quality instruments

    never said he was bad, but I can't hear anyhing different from hundreds of other motown players. Fair enough if he essentially created that style of play (which i think is what people are getting at) but his playing itself is merely pretty damn good as opposed to exceptional IMO of course!!!!!!
