1. Thanks. Does that mean any 2 button channel switch will work ie a £10 one from thomann or do I need the more expensive one from Marshall?
2. I recently bought a 2nd hand marshall mb450 which i really like but it didnt have the channel switch pedal to switch between valve and solid state and blend. Does any one know if i need to buy the pedal from marshall or whether a cheaper one fron thomann would work ok?cheers
3. Welcome to the forum. If its as good as bristol you'll have great night. Everlone and suckerpunch were the highlights for me.
4. Saw the Wildhearts at the bristol o2 last night. Absolutly cracking gig. One of my favorite bands as youth and they put in a great set. Earth vs all the way through then very entertaing audience choose the songs 2nd half. Support bands of Baby Godzilla and especially Eureka Machines were brilliant too. Top night out!
5. I've got both a zoom b2 and a vox amplug. I think both sound great. Got the vox first which is great with the aux in for ipod but have be careful to switch my yamaha bb1100 to passive as active can make it a bit farty. The zoom sounds great and has a ton of sounds to play with and the drumbox is really useful. Neither should set you back more than £30 -40.
6. Were they all plywood crap though. Seen a few claiming to be solid wood alder/ash.
7. There seems to be quite a few 1970s columbus jazz copies made at the matsomoku plant floating around ebay at the moment. They seem to go for reasonable money but does any one know if they are any good. Would they be better value than a mim or squier? Im aware of what matsomoku (although not sure of the spelling)have made aria westone etc but have never tried a columbus in the flesh. Cheers
8. Bought a tanglewood elf from Mark. Came very well packed and really quick delivery and all as described. Top bloke to trade with and i would happily deal with again. Cheers
9. Hi is this still for sale?
10. Can't believe this hasnt sold at this price absolute bargin! Mine is fantastic and really versatile thet can sound like anything. Good luck with the sale someone should bite your hand off. Easily worth twice the money!
11. Random slapping and popping is the equivalent of guitarists shredding like Eddie van halen so doesn't count (although eruption was banned in duck son and pinker in bath when I was a kid!). Looks like the chain is winning so far.
12. If you ever get over the bridge pmt in bristol had several new ones last time I was there. Couple of t birds an les Paul and a grabber 3 reissue. All new. I would also bet electric ladyland would have some vintage ones but whether youll get to see them let alone buy them is another matter!
13. The chain was my other thought
14. As stairway to heaven is banned in all guitar shops in the world what is the bass equivelent as an overplayed riff. My first thought is good times / rappers delight
15. There's a yamaha bb1100s in the for sale section at £200 which is a propper bargin and will give you £50 spare. Mine is a great bass neck is not quite as fat as a p but chunkier than a jazz and as an active passive pj can sound ike anything. Good luck shopping!
16. Easy trade, quick payment and good comms, would definatly trade with again. Cheers
17. Hi. Thanks for all the advice. Its an original fretless Mexican jazz not a defret but it is lined so hoping this will make doing the intonation a bit easier. I'll have a look at the neck relief but always feel more nervous tweaking a trust rod!
18. Hi. Ive just got my first fretless which is a nice sunburst mim jazz. Only thing is the action is a little high for my taste especially higher up the neck. Im ok at tweaking action and intonation but just wondered if there is anything extra to be careful about with a fretless or is it easier as you dont have to worry about fret buzz? Cheers
19.
I have a Toby Pro 4. Plays really well and feels great. Nice through neck construction. As said above it could do with better active electronics. Bass frequencies are big and deep but the highs are a bit thin and clanky. Often on the bay at around £250 ish. If you fancy a drive over to Cardiff you are welcome to give mine a try
Thanks. Won't be getting across the bridge any time soon but thanks for the offer. I think Im going to sit tight and find a tobias that I cam either play first or is a bargin. Cheers for all the advice much appreciated.
20. Is £350ish a fair price for a Toby pro?
21. Or my final option, which I shouldn't discount, is to ignore the coincidental sentimentality of choosing a name of a Bass maker and just buy a few quality basses for him and his sisters while they grow up and let them have a pick when they are old enough! It'll give me the excuse to a get an old Gibson or Guild that I currently have GAS for!
22. Hi. Thanks for the comments. I just wish I lived nearer bass direct to try some mtds as they look bloody good basses. However as my boy is called tobias it seems more fitting to try and find abass of the same name. Options at the moment seem to be a couple of Toby pros at £3to 400 , a jap built 5 string on here that looks lovely but is a bit out of my price range, the mtds at bass direct or to wait and see if anything more local comes up that I can try first.
23. Hi. Whereabouts are you based? Cheers
