1.
I actually tend to do a lot more recording and playing when the weather's better because I'm in a much more upbeat mood and more motivated to get something worthwhile done with my time. In poor weather I have more of a 'Can't be arsed' feeling so tend to watch more telly or read more than actual practising.
^ This
2. I love it Nige, full of passion! The harmonies are great,a me the baseline on the middle 8 is lovely. Enjoyed that a lot
3.
Great pic had a listen to one of your tracks the other night, great stuff!
Thanks
4. Our keyboard player does our mainly, and runs the lighting desk!! The man is a machine! He just has them elevated around him like they were additional keyboards!! I stand next to him, as there are a few songs where I am better placed to press buttons, so I do We've managed to make it work. As for transporting, I'm the poor sod with the van However, everyone chips in with loading and unloading.
5. Just a bit of bumpage for the wonderful Jon! True support for the holistic bassist..... He's helped me with studio and live performance as well as my playing generally. You will not meet a more top bloke!
6.
Glastonbury hardly pay bands at all do they? or come to Troyfest the same weekend and see me!
What day are you on Chay? maybe they can see us both We are Sunday at 6.45pm!
7. We do have great artwork. Our Wales outline prism (on our website) is my favourite. Not on vocals though, can't sing for toffee me
8. Enjoy http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHxOiM9BGqQ&feature=share
9. I can honestly not believe that such a stunning bass and at a very sensible price is still available. It's 39 years old and is in pretty much mint condition..... Having seen myself in a mirror aged 40 I can't see many things staying this pristine over 4 decades, I know I'm pretty "road worn" Come on, there must be someone with some cash to put Gary out of his misery!!
10. Come to the Cinderford music festival near Gloucester on the early May bank holiday weekend and you can see me
11. Disco Octaves do hurt, I feel your pain Gary! Hope you can sort it.
12.
This whole "everyone else hates us so we don't win" thing is complete and utter nonsense. Only the Irish (7 wins) have won it more times than GB has (5 wins). We've finished second 15 times. There's only been about 60 competitions, so thats a pretty good success rate. We don't win it because we enter sh*t songs and because the contest has expanded so there is more competition.
But that was in the "good old days" before shed loads of countries split up and became several countries, and a load of Eastern block states of Russia suddenly became European! Personally I love the contest! Watch it every year with great enthusiasm and gusto, but I don't take it seriously. I think Graham Norton has done a grand job as a replacement for Sir Tel.
13. You mean you don't still post up posters, make leaflets and send songs to promoters?!? Blinking heck, I'm working to hard then as I'm doing all of the above (Although I nearly got thrown out of a Brit Floyd concert for putting a load of Ultimate Floyd Flyers around the bar! It did get us 20 more Facebook likes though! )
14.
1st two songs are totally finished now (apart from the final mix and master). The next song is the easiest song so we should get that down nice and early. Was done in two takes today. Bass is sounding really nice. Just straight into the desk. Next to no eq. Just my bass and playing
We were in the studio last weekend, and my bass was just through the pedal board and straight into the desk. Enjoy it! We had a very very long 1 day session and got 6 songs recorded, we are now waiting for the mixes. What I loved was the fact that you could re-record just a bit you wanted to do again! I only asked to do it twice, but it was such fun!
15. Great happy post to read! Well done!
16. Hope it goes brilliantly! Have fun
17.
how much is a website nowadays? ...and what's involved in getting one as I've no clue but we'll probably need one at some point...
Didn't cost us much at all, we bought the web address and our keyboard players mate designed it as he owed our keys a favour and our keys is maintaining it.
18.
I do like your hat.
Very funny! lol Ironically our website is down tonight, as we are having some upgrades to it! Should be back up tomorrow
19. Yep, many venues around here won't touch you unless you have a Facebook page, a YouTube channel, a twitter account and a website. We, as a result, have all 4! I do think in this day and age that it's important to have an online presence as a way for people to contact you.
20. Taken in the recording studio on Sunday. Had a fabulous time, really enjoyed myself! I've named this picture "Being a Bassist makes me Laugh"
21. Great songs again.... A real interesting mix of interpretations of the picture! One stood out for me by a whisker so it got my vote, but another tough month to choose.
22.
Couldn't someone just hand Chris his own bass back to him, tell him it's a C64 and he will just hear the ric in his head anyway. The 'bassebo effect'

I'm still struggling to imagine which kind of tribute band would demand a C64 bass? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_kDhpFaf4EY
Bravo to both of you there. Very differently clever but both very clever!
23. Here are my top tips: Don't drink until after you've played Expect the first few songs to be played faster through nerves If you have an active bass take an extra battery! Have spare leads, at some point you will need them (usually for guitarists ) And most importantly...... HAVE FUN and report back afterwards!!
24.
This thread is brilliant! Abridged version: "After years of searching I've found my perfect bass!" "Ah that's brilliant mate. Life is but a quest through which we endeavor to find our true meaning... a perfect bass is an extension of our inner Zen, we're all so happy that you've found The One and can set about forging the hallowed matrimony of the Ying and the Yang". "Err, yeah, about that perfect bass. It doesn't quite look right". "Don't be such a numpty" "Alright, I'll keep it then"
Brilliant summary there Some people may say my Ibanez basses may not fit with a Pink Floyd tribute band, I say "pffff" to these people. I love playing it, I love how it looks on me and I can get it to sound right. If people don't like it, that's their problem not mine. Our guitarist bought a Fender Stratocaster in black with a black scratch plate to mirror Dave Gilmour.... And whilst he's a great guitarist it hasn't made him sound like the man himself
25. Lovely crowd pleaser that Gary
