1.
Excellent news. Let us Welsh know when you have a gig and we'll be there to support you.
N'awwww thanks Gelfin
 2.
Hey Debs - I've just found some info about your forthcoming appearance ‘Not A Jukebox’ Perform Live! Ex Welsh Guardsman Darren Evans, who has a son currently serving in the regiment, will be holding a charity night along with his band ‘Not A Jukebox’ later in 2012, in aid of the Appeal. Details will be posted here as soon as a date has been confirmed. Darren has also writen 2 songs which will soon be available on CD. The first, ‘Never Forget Them’ was written after the last tour and is dedicated to the 7 Welsh Guards who made the ultimate sacrifice. The second, ‘My Demons’ is dedicated to those who have suffered since returning home, including his own son, and those whose demons made their lives too difficult to bear.
Yep that's us!! We are getting in the studio in a few weeks to record the tracks!! Darren is a good bloke and a real life hero in my eyes It's looking like that charity gig may be our first gig, but we are hoping to get in a cancer charity gig before hand. Wow, seeing that in print is a bit scary Deb, trust you to find that!!! I'm a "proper" bassist now..... And I'm already thinking my Peavy amp may need upgrading sooner rather than later!!
 3. Had a jam tonight with a local band.... And I'M IN!! It was awesome!!! I had soooooo much fun!!! I am officially the new bassist for Not a Jukebox The band are cool.... The drummer and lead guitarist are both 60, the lead singer/Rhythym guitarist is in his 40s, then there's me on bass in my late 30s. Top bunch of guys and I'm sure I'll learn tons from them. The drummer was pleased with how we kept Rhythym. For many of the tracks I just played around root notes tonight (I only had sight if the 25 song set list on Sunday and had never heard of some of the songs) but I did have a few "golden numbers" where I had rehearsed more complex bass lines Next practice is next Tuesday and it can't come quick enough.
 4.
Emergency on Planet Earth - Jamiroquai
+1 to this Also Duran Durans greatest and for a different bass feel Marcus Miller Rennaisance
 5. Welcome
 6. Welcome.... Your day job sounds fab
 7. Bit late to the party but I wanted to say welcome to the UK and to Basschat. There's a few of us bass playing girlies on here So come on in, the water is lovely
 8. Crowded house have some fabulous basslines Fumps, their bassist is also as mad as a box of frogs... I think its a genius twinged with madness concept there
 9.
Now that really surprises me.
Honestly, the man is vile! Its not kust me that has said it too, I have met other people who have met him and they all say the same!
 10. The trainers are mine I am in awe of Deb.... There is NO WAY I could ever wear shoes like that
 11.
Maybe even more impressive was the fact that 22 years later I found a gushing review of our contribution to said EP on the Hyped To Death Records web site which in turn lead to them releasing a retrospective CD of our recordings.
Stop BigRedX you've gone from cool to pretty awesome
 12.
Now we are still going, and have a clothing sponsorship, and various other endorsements - so not bad going really!
Clothing sponsorship?!?!? That's pretty nuts!
 13.
However all the recording we had made stood us in good stead when I discovered the DIY cassette scene in 1979 as we had enough material already recorded to be able to release a cassette straight away which brought us to the attention of one of the main bands in the "scene" The Instant Automatons who asked us to be on a compilation EP (on proper vinyl) that they were producing, which in turn led to airplay on John Peel...
Now that sounds cool
 14.
Did you get a Blue Peter badge?
I did and I still have it... I also got to eat in the BBC canteen.... And discovered that Noel Edmonds is a tosser!!
 15.
I think at that time I realised the life of a touring musician wasn`t for me, as I would have probably drunk myself to death - seriously.
I hear that even though I was only 15 I discovered a love of Saki on that tour. Although in Shanghai it was rather embarrassing... They'd delayed an opening of a restaurant for the "children of Wales"... I ended up on Chinese news vomiting outside the new restaurant having got sh*t faced!! I do hope I didn't doom the restaurant to failure!
 16.
Well, someone did write that you're just nosey and curious, so ...
I'm trying to decide if I'm ready to take my bass playing to the next level that's all
 17.
Joined my first real band in Jan 87, a band that had gigged extensively over the UK, and had had 2 singles released.
Anything we'd know? I actually got to number 72 in the charts (with a classical group I was with) for one week in 1989 aged 15 following a performance on Blue Peter before I went on my tour of China. (Blimey, seeing that written down actually it actually looks fairly impressive! That tour of China was a fab experience but sadly I was encouraged to get a proper job and gave up music for 20 years when I went to Uni. Only recently started up again)
 18.
What, have you had enough, now? We can ramble on pointlessly like this for days, y'know!
Ramble away my BC friends, happy to hear all your stories! Maybe I'll even reveal my ulterior motive behind my question is a few days!
 19.
Sounds like fun But, whose footwear is whose? Inquiring minds want to know
Whos do you think is who's? And which footwear intrigues you most.... The femininity of the heels or the practicality of the trainers
 20.
now I look confident and glare at the guitarist every time I make a mistake...
That's one top tip there Thanks to everyone who has answered
 21. It was a great night, and thanks to LemonCello for the invite (and the bass) I have been making the most of the fretless this morning playing "Hey You" by Pink Floyd As for the footwear.... I'm comfortable with my choice
 22. When you started in your first band? What are your reflections on this now? Just nosey and curious really!

 25.
It's all in your imagination, everyone knows a bass doesnt have fifteen frets.
My bad... I'll keep taking the pills
