Us and Them - Pink Floyd It's a long song too! But as it comes after Money on Dark Side of the Moon (and we are currently looking at the whole of Dark side as our second set) it's nice to have a break, as Money is pretty intense on the old hand (mostly due to the walking bass in the middle which has your hand stretched across 4 frets for what seems like hours)
i don't think there is a definitive album of those 3, or any incognito album. I've been listening to Incognito since Jazz Funk and before with Bluey with the Warriors and Light of the World, maybe 25 years ago. still can't think of a favourite album. there all great. there are so many like Eleven, Tales from the Beach, Who Needs Love. even splinter groups like Inner Shade, Citrus Sun.. Beneath the Surface is just great though, the soul in that album is just….. end of waffle. Tribes vibes and Scribes Positivity 100 and Rising this has always been great. its just Incognito for me.. I don't know whether to be besotted with her or hate her Playing the double bass with such ease AND singing! What a talent. *goes and sits in a corner feeling rubbish*

Cardiff & South Wales bass bash 2014 Saturday 19th July confirmed

I'm not about the first weekend in November but every other weekend in Oct and Nov is currently free. And after having to miss the last one, I'm determined to be at the next one -
I sold my 5 string as I didn't get on with it with my small girl hands. Drop tuning to D on the other hand is a quick joy!

You should come to my house, go within 3 feet of Sophie and she starts purring loudly in anticipation of a fuss
It's a bloke thing Debs, you just have to have them....don't know why...and you always have to keep them, I still have my 1986 Ramones Animal Boy Tour T Shirt it is in two pieces now but it isn't getting thrown away anytime soon. I have every Stiff Little Fingers Tour T Shirt since they last reformed and my last purchase was a 35th Anniversary Chameleons Script of the Bridge tour T Shirt...happy days indeed
I've mentioned this thread to hubby, he's threatening to go up the loft and get the suitcase down. His favourite is a 1991 Eric Clapton tour tshirt, which is now only kept for "Special Occasions". He's now told me about the "Great t shirt theft of 1996" where his Pink Floyd at Earls Court t shirt was stolen off his washing line, along with some other tour tshirts!
It's a showing off thing, to advertise our masculine prowess and success to the world. Same as baldy men in sporty cars with personalised number plates or playing in a band with other old has-beens. It's all about sex in the end and your Hubby is proof that it works.
That's made me laugh!!! I've never viewed hubby's t shirts as a source of his sexiness.... In fact that may be something that would drop him from an 8 out of 10 to a 7.5

I don't understand this whole tour tshirt thing. You men seem obsessed with it. Hubby is the same, he has a whole suitcase full of the things!! Some he's worn until they are falling apart, others he's never worn and he's keeping them like museum exhibits. What gives boys? The only time I've ever bought a tour tshirt is last year as I really liked a design on the Wall tshirt when I saw Roger Waters. That's it!

My main bass is an SR1000 and it's a stunning beast. My fretless is a defretted SR300 and my backup is a maple neck SR300. Stunning basses! I love my Ibanez basses!
Know what you mean KevB. Try Lovely Rita or his later stuff, it's awesome. His best stuff (imo) was when he wasn't singing lead. Dear Prudence, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds. Too melodic, the guy is a god.
Dear Prudence has a stunning bassline! Used to do it in a covers band, loved it! Get the urge to learn "I saw her standing there" now!!! (However, I'll probably only get frustrated as I also sit firmly in the crap, but gets away with it, camp!)

I think attitude is a big one, personally I want someone down to earth and personable, not a diva. Also work ethic, but I guess the only way you can tell this is if they have put in the effort with learning audition tracks and then a longer spell of playing with them.

Don't think I'm going to make it this afternoon. Too much on, and not feeling particularly healthy at the moment either (hubby been ill with a heavy cold and I think he's shared it!) Have fun everyone, and I hope to see some pictures! -

I'm certainly after using a free theme, so would be interested if there are any more basschatters who would like to provide examples
We've been asked to play a few more gigs since then and we're playing Rumney Folk Club in Cardiff this Friday .... following just one more rehearsal
I'll have to tell my friend . She always goes to the Rumney Folk Club, I bet she will be there on Friday

I have found myself playing with some very talented musicians the past few days. It has given me a crisis of confidence, but the work I have put in since Saturday has been more than I have in the last 3 or 4 months if I'm honest. I had become complacent and meeting really talented new people has stuck a rocket up my backside to up my game. Improving is entirely within our own control.

Yep Tim Garland was on Sax, he was excellent, as was Jeff Lorber himself, but it was Jimmy and Karl that blew me away! I don't think I've ever seen such bass and drumming talent!
