Sam recently came over to my place to buy a ‘82 JV Precision.
A pleasure to deal with and a genuine, nice guy!
Confident to recommend dealing with him!!

Sold! (Buyers remorse already leering it’s ugly head!) 🤣

Unless the new truss rod nut is made of dark matter it will be 9lbs on the nose.
Why am I thinking of buying this back? I must be daft.
Haha! I’d probably feel the same if I see it listed again.

Also forgot to mention it’s nice and light!
Will put it on the scales soon and update with the weight.

Gosh, didn't expect to see this in the classifieds so soonn🙁
Fantastic bass. Ash is a great guy to deal with. And Leighton absolutely knows what he is doing. This really shouldn't be around for long.
Thanks Paul!
Yeah it’s a lovely P but I use my Jazz more (always been more of a J Guy) and I’m trimming the fat a bit all round. Just flogged an Akai S950 I’ve had since 2002 on evilbay! -
Forgot to mention it’s got new Slinky’s on it which can be considered a complementary bonus

[SOLD]
Got this lovely 1982 tobacco burst Fender script JV Precision with a cream guard.
Massive Mojo P bass tone. And looks the mutts nuts. Not many JVs like this around! Being sold with a Hiscox hardcase in good nick.
Please check Paul’s detailed description on the bass on the sale thread from when I bought it. (Pasted below)
I took it Leighton’s Guitar Workshop in Leigh-on-sea and got a full set up done on it including cleaning the pots and some fretwork. He also discovered that the truss nut was worn so replaced this. The replacement is a hex fitting rather than the original large cross head. I still have the original one which is in the hardcase in the event that the new owner wants to find a replacement for ‘original parts’ purposes, but it’s fully functional now.
Action is currently set to allow for digging in to get the most of this tone machine. However with the fretwork and truss nut replacement it should be fine lower if that’s you’re vibe.
Selling at cost: £1100
£1000 for the bass after price drop plus £100 for the work done on it to bring it to tip top shape and the hiscox case.
In Benfleet, Essex. Could arrange a meet or could courier at buyers expense seeing as it’s being sold with the hiscox. Obviously would prefer a hand-to-hand.
Peace ✌🏼

Giacomo bought my ACG Harlot 5 string.
We had to do some working out and negotiating on safe shipping from UK to Italy and he was always very prompt to respond and a very reasonable, personable chap!
Also note payment was instant upon agreeing a deal.
I highly recommend dealing with Giacomo to all BCers!!

Did this beauty ever sell?
Still in limbo!

Had one of these for a couple of years and always regretted trading it.
Was recently on the look out for a good jazz 5: ended up picking up a Shuker which I’m happy with but if that hadn’t of been the case I’d be grabbing this 100%
Amazing bass and I’m already well-jel of the new owner to be!

Weigh is 10.8 pounds
String spacing: 15mm at bridge. 10mm at 1st fret.
As suspected bass can’t be used passively at all without batteries as with a lot of active designs.

Lovely! Bet it’s got growl for days!

What I can tell you now is that I think the fiber optics are pretty efficient but yes you can switch them off easily with a toggle switch with the other controls on the bass.
Theres no passive mode you can activate. I’ll test it without batteries though and let you know what it can do without them
Will get back to you tomorrow with the result of that test and the spacing/weight.
PS. I didn’t realise it was all of 9 years old! The fact it hasn’t really been played out and I purchased it from the original owner made me assume it was a more recent build.

That does look in superb condition for a 9 year old bass!
A few Qs if I may:
What's the string spacing and the weight of the bass?
Do the lights get through the batteries very quickly and is there an on / off switch for the lights?
Is there an active by-pass option to allow you to play the bass in passive mode, in case the batteries go mid gig?
Hey man,
I’ll get back you you with answers to all the above by tomorrow evening 👍🏼

Nice around 34” to the low D then?
Really cool design

Yup. There's a little level so I can have the open E or D.
The idea was
stoleninfluenced by the Kubicki Ex-Factors I used to have.Cool! Better than drop tuning where you have to change your fingering.
So what scales are these?

Had this exact spec years ago. From memory and the details of that grain it may well be the very same bass.
Great players and really nice modern tones. GLWTS
