Fake. No way is this a Bongo. Body shape wrong. Knobs should be recessed into body - and are in the wrong position anyway. Inlays should be crescent-shaped. Musicman engraving missing from bridge. Strap buttons are not Musicman shaped. Headstock graphic too small. Tuners too long. Nut wrong. Trussrod wheel missing. Pickup covers wrongly shaped around attachment screws. Stacked knobs missing. And the text describes non-Bongo electronics. On a Bongo, the pickups do not have their own volume and tone controls. I've probably missed something real obvious - but need I go on? CB

Just a couple of points, and I feel a little nervous telling you to do this - so be careful. When straightening the neck with the truss rod - it helps to (very very gently) aid the truss rod adjustment by gripping the body and holding back on the tip of the headstock very slightly to take the strain whilst tightening. Also, have you tried leaving it for a day or two and then gently check again to see if it still feels maxed out? The point made by the poster above about taking it to a reputable luthier is a good suggestion, given the problems you've had. CB

Here's mine. Bought for me by my dad in 1974 when I was 9. CB

Decided against buying a Neuser Cloudburst as I play with myself enough already. CB
That really is a big price hike. Look forward to getting your Bongo ; in my opinion they are the real star of the EBMM range of basses. They really do sound unique. Plenty of other basses on the market can sound like a Stingray , but nothing sounds like a Bongo. The way the sound sits in the mix is just perfect.
+1

Having just equipped myself with a fretless Sterling 4H, I can get pretty close to the playhouse sound with my OC-2 as follows: Bass: Pickup - coils in parallel Treble - half cut Mid - full boost Bass - half boost OC-2: All 3 knobs in 11o'c position However, I've got a strange issue. Every so often the OC-2 reverts to bypass and my tone seems clean. To get the OC-2 to work again I need to power it off and on by removing and reinserting the jack. Does this sound like a battery issue? Or something else? I have no compressor - just the OC-2. CB
Fixed it for you
Ha ha - mine's the 12" remix. :-) CB

I bought Will's fretless Sterling. Very nice guy to deal with. And the company he works for seem to be able to pull strings with the DPD delivery guys: - did the deal Thurs night - bass packed and sent on Fri from Somerset - I received an SMS from DPD on Fri night to say I'd get the package in Glasgow on Sat - Early Sat I got another SMS to say that it would be delivered between 10am and 11am Sat morning. SMS even told me the name of the delivery bloke. - Bass arrived at 10:30am. - Awesome. Thanks Will. CB

Ok ok. I'm hearing you :-) Apologies - didn't notice the other thread. And I totally agree with the compliment/free bump thing. But it just needs to be a bit more creative. At least make the compliment a bit specific eh. I'm off to have a look at that other thread now. Maybe give it a free bump. CB

...if I only had the money, I'd buy that in a heartbeat... ...wonder could I sell a kidney... ...lovely bass, but times are tight at the moment... ...I'd sell my granny to get this... ...blah... ...blah... Is it just me who rolls his eyes when stuff like this gets posted so mind-numbingly predictably? If it's just me, then sorry I'll be quiet and suck it up. CB

So, making it a 2 octave neck seems to have been an eleventh hour decision. Interesting. And they obviously didn't foresee the toilet-seat banter, otherwise they'd have made the final one a different colour. You'd think. CB

Have you thought about getting a second opinion regarding this fairly serious medical condition? Not your neck - I mean the fascination with Ricks. :-) Just joking. Best wishes with it. CB
...apparently a lot of the original colour options for these basses were chosen to reflect the range of colours for B.M.W cars at that time, as a reference to the BMW / Dreamworks design team who helped with the design of the bass.
Interesting. Never realised this. Thanks for posting. CB

Hey. Good luck with the venture. I'll always have a soft spot for H||H stuff. Just, events overtook, and I needed to get myself kitted. Timing is everything. If you need my Bass Baby for comparisons etc etc, you're welcome whilst I still have it - just drop me a line eh. CB
My Overwater has a good bridge but can it hell get me over a river.
You'd need to add the Rhodes before that would work. :-) CB

NJE - you can take my place (assuming I had one). Apologies crez - the process has taken a lot longer than I expected, so instead I have equipped myself with all the kit I need from Markbass. I've also decided to sell my H||H Studio 60 Bass Baby combo. CB
I was close!
Yep. Very impressive. Year spot-on! And there was an ASB-1 as well (the one with the horns) and an AEB-1 (fretted AUB-1). CB
