1. Okay, so I've tried the class D thing... I have an Orange TB500 and used to have a Berg CN212 and loved it. But i've always preferred the sound of valves. I use a LB30 for practise at home and recording but sadly it's not loud enough for any of the bands I play in. I found a relatively cheap Ampeg 410 on gumtree (I tried one with my TB500 at a gig and really enjoyed the vintage warmth over the transparency of the CN212) and today the CTM100 finally arrived from Andertons (god bless 18 months 0% finance)... Only tried it at home but can't wait to take it to rehearsal to open it up a bit...
2. I've just bought an Ampeg 4x10 and waiting for an Ashdown CTM100 to arrive. I've got a small valve rig (LB30) that not loud enough to gig and although I stepped down the lightweight class D path, i've always wanted that big, all-valve rig. Hopefully that will hold back the GAS for a while. I bought a mexican P of Lozz a few years ago and I honestly haven't been tempted to buy another bass since... but I know once I clear my credit cards, something will build up inside and i'll be getting another card to put down a deposit for a Mike Lull. What makes me sit up is when people ask how much I spend on gear... I think £500 for a nice P or £400 on a decent second hand cab is reasonable, my colleagues and friends think i'm crazy, yet I don't feel an ounce of guilt about it.
3. Last weekend I travelled from Oxford to Southport to pick up an Ampeg 4x10 for £380 found on gumtree... A day later one pops up on here in sussex for £350. Sods law!
4. Awesome rig. I've just ordered a CTM100 myself and tomorrow i'm picking up an Ampeg 410 to plonk it on when it arrives... Tried out the CTM in PMT Bristol and it sounded superb when cranked... can't wait until it arrives. Enjoy NRG dude!
5. I stripped down an old squire P (in black) using a heat gun... the results were fairly quick but it was messy and if I didn't have the right safety equipment... The heathen took all but a bottom level of primer which i had to sand off myself. I resprayed it Fiesta Red but I didn't do a good job of sanding (the gloss paint seemed to show up a multitude of sins) and i'll be honest - looks like crap. Thankfully it was a bass i wasn't using so i may have another crack this year. If you love the bass get it done properly

10. Bump... Down to £800. Having trouble uploading pics on here but can send them via email.
11. For sale is my Bergantino CN212 with a padded sleeve. Bought from new in Jan '14 from Bass Direct... gigged around a dozen times and used in about 15 rehearsals in a loud punk band. I'm selling because i've had a change in personal circumstances and could do with the money - very disappointed to see this go... It's an amazing cab. Easy to lug about, small stage footprint, I've always been complimented on the sound of the thing. In perfect working condition, great cosmetically too (save a couple of marks on the back of the cab and on the metal corners on the underside). Collection only please, I am based in Didcot, South Oxfordshire, OX11. Also would be willing to delivery myself for petrol costs. Cash on collection/delivery preferred, other payment methods up for discussion (have always dealt on here in cash - personal preference) Any questions? Please let me know. Joe
12. For home practise i use an Ashdown LB30 into an Ashdown MiBass 1x12... Perfect.
13. Just bought a cab from Jez. Nice guy, enjoyed chatting all things bass for a good hour or so. Feedback speaks for itself - deal with confidence, another great basschatter.
14. Hi all, My current set up is a fender P into a Orange TB500 via Sansamp BDDI… While I’m delighted with the sound of the cab, my main issue is I live in a 4th floor flat and my usual rehearsal space is also on the 3rd floor of an office block. The Berg is relatively light… but can be awkward to carry down narrow stairs (or just loads of stairs for that matter). I’ve been looking at the Barefaced website, particularly at the super Compact cabs…The plan is to buy two, use one for rehearsals and smaller gigs and both cabs for larger shows. Will one of these be able to handle the job of the OBT500, or would i always need to use both? Finally, can anyone tell me how the Barefaced cabs in general compare with the Berg’s, in terms of build quality and any other general observations/comparisons. Or should I suck it up, stop being a wimp and appreciate the CN212? I can sense some GAS bubbling away! Cheers.
15. For sale is my Orange Terror Bass head. Valve preamp, Class D power amp, 500 watts... seriously loud. I bought it about 18 months ago new from Dawson's in Reading. I have gigged with it about 10 times but have looked after it. It's in perfect condition with no dings or scratches. Includes gig bag, speakon cable and power lead. Selling because I'm not playing in bands at the moment so it's just sat in the corner, this thing needs to be played. I would prefer cash and collection, i'm based in Didcot, just south of Oxford and just off the A34 (within easy reach of M3, M40 or M4). Would also be prepared to deliver/meet half way for fuel costs. Not open to trades, open to offers. Cheers!
16. 1. strap gave way on my brand new Fender Paisley P Bass... 2. Same bass as above... stood on the lead and yanked a connection out of place. Didn't have a spare bass (I lived on the edge, you see) so had to watch half the gig from the bar... 3. Didn't happen to me, but my ex-guitarist... A string breaks in the first song... Goes to grab the spare guitar and doesn't realise it's a 1.5 steps out of tune... Needless to say the next song sounded pretty awful.
