I don't suppose that you have the opportunity to ask them what they think is going on during a gig, but it would be interesting to know their reasons for why the band aren't producing the music!

I am considering seeing Die Krupps next Wednesday. It's more seeing them because I can rather than knowing a lot of their stuff. But then, I did the same for Dead Kennedy's last year and thoroughly enjoyed it so I'll probably go. If I don't, then the next planned gig is Dropkick Murphys in February.

Why is picking a band name so bloody hard?

You know exactly what I meant Young Teebs! -
When I get around to it, I'll be modifying what may turn out to be a firewoodbasketcaster, in that's where it'll only be good for.

Dare I ask what a barncaster is? I've got an image in my head of a Dukes of Hazard style Dutch barn front, red with white highlights, and a strat neck starting at the roof peak. Probably with a strat pickguard and pickups. Daisy Duke in her hot pants is also in my head now, but that's a whole other thread, probably a whole other forum...

My band, the one I started, was 330ml. I happened to be supping a can of something or other at the time and thought it was a cool name. My current band, one I've joined is Kill My Night, as the antithesis of Make My Day. I think it's a slightly unfortunate idea, but it's a German band, in Germany, so maybe the sentiment doesn't matter so much. I'll leave you to decide what sort of genre they both were. -

At university I spent a term doing lights for bands in the SU. One night a bloke in front of the desks turned round, looked me in the eye and pulled the power to the lighting desk before vanishing into the crowd. Fortunately the cable didn't disappear and it was only a few seconds before it was back in and being the days before digital desks, or at least, ones that the ENTS team could afford, it was only a minute of darkness. The sound engineer and l, who fortunately for my reputation, if not my peace of mind, was the ENTS manager shared a "What an Arschlöche" look and had a beer over it later one. Probably nicked from the band, SU bands were usually generous to the crew with their riders! 😉

Plain silly statements by those who should know better.

I sort of wonder why the off hand has ended up being the fretting hand. I would have thought that the dominant hand would be stronger, more dextrous and other wise better all round for fretting. I'm not changing BTW Oh well, crossed in the ether. -
I don't think I've noticed that contour by the string ferrules before. Very nice.

(Yes, I know I've used it before, but it's funny and that's good enough for me 🙂)

I saw Alter Bridge with Shinedown and The Raven Age on Tuesday. I'd never heard of The Raven Age but I really liked what I heard. Shinedown were excellent, not much in the way of set as the cloths were up to hide the headliners set but bags of onstage antics and energy. Alter Bridge were a disappointment. Good songs but they mostly just stood there. The light show and other visuals were outstanding but a meh from me due to the lack of "bounce" on stage from the band.

Going to see them in March. I can't wait, I last saw them at Rock City on the Burning Red tour.

I saw Alter Bridge on Tuesday, not a great show but that's for another thread. They had a pair of Ashdown 810s stacked sideways. It looked perfect visually but I'd never do it.

All working thanks to the aerial suggestions and the nice chaps at Quad who refurbished it after I found it languishing in the revered parents attic. No, I'm not spending thousands on a pair of period ESL speakers. I may look for some better ones than I am using at some point. There's a 303 in the back BTW

I've not traveled by plane with a bass so I don't know what the process is, but it would be interesting to say the least if it got x-rayed and all they could see was a black bass body shape on the screen. No idea how you'd prove it wasn't hollow and filled with Columbian marching powder (to contaminate this thread with the Den of Iniquity one 😉)

@Andyjr1515 is the man to talk to about how much structure you actually need, he's accidentally built a bass out of something with no structural value once and deliberately a second time. Interesting concept you have though, like it.

Very nice. I like it.

Are the tuner washers recessed into the face of the headstock?
