Chris is a top bloke and all round good egg. If you want someone daft enough to organise a bass bash with, Chris is your man
-
Many many thanks to all of you who came this afternoon and many thanks to my parter in crime, Roland Rock. The Baton made £75
-
The Baton came to the Midlands Bass Bash with me, it left with Grammefriday and made £75
-
It is indeed, and will be putting itself about on Saturday for the price of a picture and a donation to charidee. I even got my folks to put something in the pot when I picked it up this evening.
-
It's perfectly acceptable to just turn up without a bass. I wasn't as I don't think I've got anything that everyone hasn't seen, unless a 5 string P is considered exotic, and I was going to come by bike anyway if the weather was nice I am now bringing the BC relay baton, hopefully I won't be taking it home with me

Why would someone want do this to a 74 Precision?

+1 Much better than a sunburst/tort combo -
What does II-V-I turnaround mean?
John Entwistle i would agree with but i'm not sure about Steve Harris.....he is a great bass player but i don't know if musically he is above that of ay Dave Murray?? It is very subjective and difficult to define.
He has written nearly every Maiden song, co-written most of the others, plays the keyboards on the studio songs, produced a bunch of the albums and probably manages his daughters band as well. Not sure whether that makes him the better musician, but he's more than just the bassist
-
It was suggested, but our singer wasn't keen

Weird and wonderful or maybe just weird?
Si600 replied to wotsy's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Is the seller our own BigRedX? -
Just! It's more of a kitchen diner so we put the drums into half of the dining room, the amps on the dining room chairs. I stood by the kitchen door and the guitarist had to go into the kitchen because of feedback problems. The poor singer who has been coping without PA support up to now as it was just us and the ipod for reference had to stand by the drummer and shout himself hoarse. We're looking for a rehearsal space now
-
As an antidote to the "Quit my band threads" There's been three of us for a while now, my school mate on the six string thing, my college mate on the singing and last night we had our first go with a real drummer, a bloke I work with. It was a bit cramped in the guitarists kitchen and he couldn't get far enough away from his amp to stop the feedback at times but it was a fun evening and only my third time with real drums. Happy Days For your eye-rolling and sighing here is our current list of work in progress Stuff we can get by in but need polishing: Pretty Vacant American Idiot Whole Lotta Rosie Upstarts and Broken Hearts Doubleback Screamager Loose Los Angeles is Burning Pretend that we're Dead Whisky in the Jar (Metallica version) And the ones that we don't know but are next up: Kids in America All right Now Touch too Much One Vision Tie your Mother Down (blame the drummer, he's a Queen fanatic and owns a Red Special and a Roger Taylor inlaid snare drum) Sorry for forum cluttering with spam posts.

OK. you're an immature poser No idea what the song is though
-
Thank you, I'll look for one of those. Any recommendations? Do you have any idea why I'm not getting much of a signal going from the line out of my amp into the mixer?
-
Good call that man. I borrowed the mixer to play with at home. A lot of the noise was coming from the power supply. but I can't get anything if I plug my GK MB500 Fusion into it using a normal instrument lead from Line Out into the Mixer 1/4" input on channel 1 unless I wind the gain on the channel up so far it's just recording noise. Am I doing it wrong by using a normal lead instead of an XLR cable, but if I do, what happens when we start using the phantom power on the desk to run microphones? Early days yet, should I be looking for something to convert the RCA to USB rather than the microphone port on the laptop and recording on something other than Audacity? Anyway, here is something wot I recorded, bass-mixer-laptop. Sorry for the scruffy playing and ignore the couple of fluffs
-
Just a reminder that the Bass Relay Baton will be at the bash. Any attendees are welcome to take it away with them for it's next leg.
-
I am in discussion with DonnyBoy to have the Baton at the Midlands Bass Bash in Leicester on the 10th May. The collection box will be out and the bass will force itself upon all comers for a photo and a quick caress. Anyone who wants to take it on from there speak up, or make a decision on the 10th.
-
which bit of Northamptonshire? You're welcome to have a noodle on mine if you're reasonably local to Northampton / Daventry. The other side of Corby is not so convenient
-
We've got a stack of lanyards (Cheers Ped) and a card will be supplied with both your name and your forum name. In your case, I might have to write small

I have no idea what you're talking about with the 5k roll-off, BUT, the MB Fusion has a DI out on the back with a pre/post EQ switch so you can give the sound man a DI from the amp that is the same signal as is going to the cab if you wish by setting it to post EQ. Then say "dunno mate, that's the only DI port on the back"
-
If it will run from power rather than battery alone then I'd take the battery out and not worry about it. It'll only be on when you turn the board on when you're using it anyway. Unless you like the pretty lights shining in the dark all night Thank you. It was cobbled together rather than crafted like yours. All my effort has gone into drilling and milling the plates rather than the woodwork.
-
I can't see why it wouldn't. I don't know how it works, but I'm assuming that it's switchable between tuner and pass through so it will not interfere with your signal unless you want it to. I've got jacks on my board as well, the old one is here: Pedal Board Build but it's currently in the process of being rebuilt to fit a case I got on here from merton. Once it's finished then I'll update the thread with more pictures and info. I did it because it's neat and I think it looks a bit cool
-
That is a cracking bit of kit. I salute you What are the cable tubes for, power, patch leads or both? If for patch leads are you taking one end off to thread it through and the resoldering one fitted?
-
But if you've got everything pre wired on a board, apart from the aesthetic why shouldn't you just plug into the first and last units in the chain without an inbuilt jack socket? I'm only curious not knocking it.
